There are these sponges that are marketed to be "dry" solutions for cleaning your dash (they actually work ok for dust). They also do a great job at pulling lint & dog hair out of fabric. They're orange, I think TW makes them (sheesh. I'm starting to sound like a TW salesman). Their kind of like the sticky lint rollers, just not as sticky. Get it wet and it loses it's tackiness, and you can get all the crud off it.
Anyway, I had some lint from cleaning/vacuuming around the edges of the mat, so I took this sponge and...wow! It *really* grabs the nap of the carpet (in a good way). You should have seen all the fuzz I pulled out, even after a fresh vacuum. Then I noticed how I could control the marks...
It would prolly work with a regular sponge, but this little thing is worth $1.50 to me. I go straight up, then angle down so the edge is next to where the last upward motion started. Then up again. Just like my mom taught me how to vacuum floors....
Neat thing is, it does hide some of the minor flaws in carpet. And I bet customers will be impressed. You can *see* someone paid attention to the carpet. Mom would be proud! And it looks really cool in the back seat, where you can play with the way the markings intersect on the sides and top of the trans. hump.
blue skies,
