Happy July 4th weekend, everyone! Up here in Canada, today is our celebratory day - Canada is 150 years old!
I just thought I`d share this car with you guys - it`s just such a cool ride - classic, and the drop, wheels, and tires look so great together! This was such a fun car to do. A good friend of mine bought it sight unseen from a seller in Montreal, so he, myself, and another great friend went out to get it. We live just over 2000 miles away, lol. We made it home in less than three days.
The three of us flew out, checked out the car, and proceeded to drive all the way home. Road trips, especially spontaneous ones, are the best thing, EVER! Everything went off without a hitch, except for the part where we had smoke coming in through the centre vents! (Turned out to be the bearing on the heater fan motor - we drove the rest of the way without heat or air conditioning, but as fate would have it, the weather was perfect for it).
I think the car has been repainted, but it was done very well. There actually weren`t many deep defects, and there was not a single door ding or dent on the whole car. There were a few paint chips that I filled in, and the rim of the front passenger side wheel well had been rolled badly (to allow the fatter tires to clear), so there was some paint that had cracked off, so I filled it in as best I could. The hood was the only place that needed some real work.
This post won`t be particularly detailed (no pun intended lol) - I just thought it was a fun change, and an unusual car - I usually only do friends` cars, which more often than not are exotics. (I am kind of lucky that way ^_^ )
-Wash - rinsed with pressure washer/CR Spotless deionized water, then foamed with Chemical Guys Honeydew snow foam, pressure rinsed with DI water again, then CarPro Iron X, foamed again and wiped down with CarPro Woolwash mitt (with frequently relubing with a Wolfgang foam gun/Honeydew), pressure rinsed again with DI water, foamed again and clayed with Nanoskin fine grade mitt.
-Most of the car was done with Menzerna 2400, FLEX 3401, and Lake Country orange CCS pad. I also used my new Rupes iBrid Nano for the first time - I LOVE IT. It has amazing power for such a little machine. I love that it can be a rotary, or random orbital - even a long-throw one.
-I finished the car off with Menzerna Super Polish on a blue Lake Country pad, CarPro Eraser, and LSP`d the car with CQuartz UK.
Here are a few pics:

This is fairly indicative of the condition of the paint in general:

The hood was the only place that I had difficulties of any kind. It might have been original paint, as there were quite a few RIDS everywhere, some quite deep. Here, I elected to wet sand the whole hood. I took depth readings, which were reassuring. I used a 3M Trizact 3000 grit sanding disc, and my FLEX 3401. It worked fantastically well! Finished it with Menzerna 2400 on a Lake Country orange pad, then Menzerna Super Polish on a blue Lake Country pad.

I so loved this car - from the time Drew picked it out, to going out to pick it up, driving it home, and then having the privilege of detailing it.
Thanks for viewing my rather lengthy post. Have a great 4th of July, everyone!
