Old Wax Dilemma

Wweellll....
So I have a jar of Poorboys Natty Blue wax (my personal favorite). I've had it for close to 8 years now and I feel like I know the answer before I ask this.... Is it still good?

The reason I ask:
I used it on my black Mazda 6 recently and it didn't haze over, I waxed it about 9pm in the garage and left it over night (lights off probably 60-70 in the garage all night) and in the morning it had only hazed in spots that I got it on the car pretty thick.

However, water seems to bead up pretty well on the car, and it looks fantastic, it's slick to the touch, everything you'd expect from a new jar of nattys blue.

I've always kept the wax stored indoors and in the dark.

What is y'alls take on this? Is the wax still good despite failing to haze over? Based on my results I'm inclined to keep using it, unless its harmful or not doing any good.

Post a photo of it if you can.
Mine is going on 3 years and is fine.
You may just need to remelt it double boiler style?
Does it have a nice oily feel like it did when new if you rub your finger in it?
 
For me, eight years isn't even close to "old", but I've never used Natty's.

IMO if it seems to work OK then it *does* work OK.
 
chris over at poorboy's said they often just nuke it in a microwave for a couple of minutes to liquify it again and it sets up again fine.

they also needed to get a new oven cuz of that once :D

lower power, short times a few times



To the OP. If you like, you could send it here, and we could "test" it (numerous times to insure results)

Like I said it seems to work fine just doesn't haze up. I took a picture of the wax on my phone today. Just gotta get it moved over to the computer and I'll upload it.

Haha Ron I've seen you try that trick before! I will continue testing the wax myself ��

I just nuked my Natty Red today.
Took the microwave all the way to 80%..then it finally melted after a couple minutes.
I covered it with a plastic bowl in case it wanted to splatter.

Gave mine the nuke treatment and it is good as new! I appreciate the responses.
 
good info to know...I plan on stocking up on paste's this year - seems they can last quite some time if stored properly

Maybe even if *not* stored "properly" ;) seeing as how I just keep most of mine on the shelf in the shop.

I really can't remember a paste going bad on me, oughta go check that can of Pro from the '70s some time and see if it's still OK. My little 1985 jar of Zymol Detail/BHMA Interior Wood Wax is still OK despite its cracked lid.

I expect the pastes I *have* stored properly (M16 anyone?) will still be OK long after I'm gone.
