Old vs New Menzerna Polishes

I'm a big fan Menzerna polishes. I've tried other brands and nothing works better for me. However, I've only used the old version of Menzerna. I'd like to get fresh stuff.

My current Menzerna is Intensive Polish and Finish Polish II. Those are the only names on the containers. I'd like the current Menzerna medium-intensive correction polish and a finish polish that are close to the performance of my old products. And maybe a finer finish polish. What current Menzerna polish part numbers match my old stuff? For example, what is the current Menzerna polish that is roughly the same as my old IP?

Thanks,

Dan.

Charlie,

Thanks, but that's not what I'm referring to. I've seen that chart and another chart. Those look like new polishes versus newest polishes.

Both new and newest have model numbers (e.g. "PO85U"). Also, they mention a label change and not a container shape change. It looks like both new and newest come in round containers.

I'm talking about "antique" (ooooooooollllld) Menzerna polishes vs newest polishes. Mine have NO model numbers. None. And they came in rectangular containers.

I need to map the old IP to the newest coarse Menzerna and the old FPII to the newest fine Menzerna.

Regards,

Dan.

It was just more of a label change and what Charles posted is very correct.

Didnt Proper Auto Care way, way, back in the day, sell Menzerna or their Menzerna-developed polishes in the square containers ? I think I still have a brand new Menzerna square container of Full Molecular Jacket Paint Protectant

These might be the containers my "other brother Dan" :) is talking about ??

Brother Dan!!! :D

That's the one! Both containers have the Proper Auto Care sticker on them. Now the challenge is to figure out their current equivalents.

Thanks,

Dan.

i'm still using the old, old menzerna on my truck. fpII and sip. people still ask me what i use, so it still works.

I'd use mine too, but it's getting very low. I need to restock and would like
to ensure that I get the latest Menzerna in roughly equivalent grits.

Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?

Dan.

Angelo, Todd, and a few others on this Forum came from Proper Auto Care, so hopefully, when they get back from partying, they will read this and respond.

I actually liked those little square 32oz containers with the handle at the top, nice shorter footprint, and thin so you could store more of them easily. Product was always great too!

We will get some help, other-brother ! That 3hrs ahead of us time thing is going on now..

In the meantime - Bookem' - Danno !! :)

I'm still not sure about the exact match to my current Menzerna, buy to get this moving, I ordered the Menzerna Ceramic Intro Kit (SI 1500 & SF 4000) and SF 4500.

Notice that these are the new model numbers. The old model numbering system is so bizarre and confusing that I refuse to use them.

Also, people seem to like Leather Master, so the Leather Master Strong Kit was added too. I've very satisfied with Zaino Z9 and Z10, but I want to see how this compares.

Dan,

I agree with you about the container shape. Oh, we'll. Need to move forward.

Menzerna IP2000 is the same exact product that would have been in your old purple label Intensive Polish. If you would like to try something different, Menzerna SI1500 is a little newer version of that product that offers more cutting power and finishes nicer.

Final Polish II (FPII) was Proper Auto Care's name for what used to be called PO87MC. PO87MC has been replaced by FF3000.

So....

Intensive Polish -> IP2000
Final Polish II -> FF3000

If you would like something that is even finer that FF3000, then you can try SF4500. It has less cut (this doesn't mean it will necessarily finish better though).

Dan, I'm not sure if this helps.

Originally Menzerna was just an OEM manufacturer, which is why the old Menzerna just had part numbers. When it was brought to the US consumer market, originally under the direction of CMA, two polishes were used, PO91E and PO87MF.

PO91E was given the name "Intensive Polish" and poured into the white bottles.

PO87MF was given the name "Final Polish" and poured into the white bottles.

PO87MF was upgraded to PO87MC and for the consumer version, the name was switched to "Final Polish II"

Regardless of the bottle, PO91E "Intensive Polish" has remained the same formula, which is currently called IP2000.

Todd,

Thanks for the feedback. As you can see from my post above, I went with SI 1500, SF 4000, and SF 4500. I hope that is a good combo.

Great combo.

SP1500 is going to give you more cutting power then IP2000. The only time I prefer IP2000 to SP1500 is working on older, single stage paints that have become extremely weathered and oxidized.

Both SF4000 and SF4500 are going to give you an amazingly clear finish, and with the extra finishing ability of SI1500, they are all you need.

Todd,

Is the formula for FF3000 the same as it was before?

I just noticed that I only have a tiny amount left (probably not enough for a full car) and was just thinking back to when I had a problem with a black ZR-1. Nothing seemed to work for finishing it and you suggested FPII. Fortunately I had some that I had forgotten about and it saved my butt. Good to have on hand in case of a similar situation.
