Old tar

Did a car today which probably never had been detailed. I am sure the tar on the lower panels had been there for years. I tried clay, Bug & Tar Remover and elblow grease. Some came off but not enough. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I had one like that a couple of years ago. Took over an hour with two of us getting grease and tar off. I used APC plus some PB's Bug Squash and lots of elbow grease too. An old piece of clay will also sometimes get tar off.

I usually spray with mineral spirits and let dwell for a few minutes and them wipe off. If it is really bad (lots of big old dry thick spots) might need a plastic razor to help.



If there are stubborn spots, try and scratch the surface of the tar, to get past the dried part.
