OCW How Should I Use It Exactly? Many Questions.

I just ordered a crap load of detailing products. I was going to go with UPP for my sealant but I stumbled upon the raving review of OCW so I got that instead. I don't know much about OCW so I need your guy's help. Here are some questions I have with OCW.

1. When is the best time to apply it? I was thinking about applying it after I use Klasse AIO, would you think that's a good idea?

2. How many layers of OCW can I put on? Does it have to cure before I put on another layer? If so, how long should I wait until I throw on another layer?

3. After putting on OCW can I top it with a wax such as Poorboy's Natty's blue (I just bought this wax and my car is black)? Do you think it will look better if I top the car with Natty's blue?

4. Let's say I put on AIO, then OCW, then Natty's blue. Would it be a bad idea to OCW the car once in a while (basically putting OCW over Natt's blue)? What do you think about this? Do you think the OCW will look better over the natty's blue or will the OCW hide the look of natty's blue?

1. Yup!

2. You can put on 2 initial layers, one after another, which must cure for 24 hours. Since OCW allows paint to breathe, the second layer will not interfere with the curing of the first.

Can't help you with the rest, sorry.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but UPP is a polymer sealant and OCW is a wax.

1. after AIO is a nice idea, but I would go AIO/Natty's Blue and then maintain with OCW

2. my car has umm... about 7 layers of OCW right now. I just throw on a coat after each wash.

3. see number 1

4. see number 1

it may be... but even if it is, wouldnt the wax mess with the polymer's curing process? I doubt any polymers would be able to bond after the first layer OCW because the product contains wax.

This is partially correct. OCW is 1/3 wax and 1/3 polymer. What you see seperating to the bottom are the heavier UV absorbers. The way OCW is formulated is that the polymer portion sets up first then the wax so there is no bonding issues.

Any bonding issues may occur when another polymer is laid on top of the OCW.

As for AIO....I personally have had issues when applying OCW over AIO. OCW likes freashly polished paint best with nothing laid down prior.

If you plan to polish, I would suggest using OPT polish, then wipe off the polish residue with OCW.

Also....

SHAKE the product well BEFORE and DURING use. IMO, this is the #1 cause of issues when using OCW. If you keep the product mixed up, I think you'll really like the results.

Good product selection!

Based on my experience and your product portfolio, IMO, you can go in a couple of directions:

To enhance flaking:

AIO

UPP x2 curing time 24 hours in between and prior to OCW use.

OCW x2 with a few hours in between application

To get a glossier, deeper finish that doesn't enhance the flakes as much:

AIO

Natty's Blue x2 (to assure consistent coverage)

OCW x2 with a few hours in between application

Maintaining either solution is simple - every couple/few weeks apply more OCW after bathing the car. I have put Natty's on top of OCW without problem, but I don't see any purpose in doing so. OCW is sooo simple to apply and maintain.

I really like the OCW on top of Natty's Blue - I have it on a portion of my wifes Dark Green Liberty and it has a nice deep finish from NB, beads well and all I need to do to maintain is spray OCW and wipe.

I end up using OCW on my car after every wash (weekly).

I wax my car (either Souveran or Natty's Blue) once a month.

Ok sorry to intrude on your topic bro, but on topic after polishing.

Can I do this, polish, AIO, SG and then after allowing SG to cure, OCW as a topper?

That'll be a killer combo if you can get 2 to 3 layers of SG on before going to the OCW.

What color finish do you have and how well prep'd is it?

Also, been meaning to bring this up about AIO... I read somewhere that going x2 AIO is wise if you're needing to strip off old product. The first app will remove the old product and allow the 2nd app to lay a better coat of polish down. It makes sense to me, so ever since whenever I use a cleaner I hit it with 2 apps.
