OCW + Collinite

Hello there.

Well, I've been reading archives, and I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I haven't seen it explicitly stated. Just to make sure, I'll ask it out right.

I use Collinite 476 on my hood and front 1/4 of car. I use Collinite IW on the rest of my car. I want to use Optimum Car Wax spray as a booster wax. Does OCW work well with Collinite for this exact purpose? (I'm looking for durability, and not so much looks.)

thanks.

I hope the answer to your question is a positive one, coz I'm planning on doing exactly what you mention during this winter. I'm putting on 845 IW when I do my winter prep and will be maintaining it with OCW after every wash through the winter months.

Ok guys funny you should ask this because I just topped 845 IW with OCW. The 845 had cured for a week and after I washed it I put on OCW.

WOW, the added shine was great. It didn't seem to add any depth but it kicked up the reflections and really added to the surface shine.

I doubt it would add any addition protection to the 845 IW but would be a good way to maintain the appearance during the winter.

I noticed that IW gets liquidy sometimes

has anyone tried to use it with a sprayer?

maybe warm it up about and try to spray it on like ocw

OCW seems compatible with all the carnaubas and sealants I have tried it over, plus it works great on its own.

Have you ever tried OCW over SG or Souveran? I have one car with SG on it and one with Souveran on it...Will OCW hurt either if I use it after a wash?

It's just so hard to believe that a spray wax can last for a couple of months.

Why? Klasse SG and 1Z Glanz Wax are even more watery.

Yeah, you're right, but I guess I'm so use to spray waxes being quick detailer sprays, that its hard getting use to a top notch wax coming out of a spray.

In your experience how long does OCW last on it's own?

By the way, thanks for the response. I guess I'll be going with OCW throughout the winter.

OCW is a good in between QD with added protection (carnauba/polymer) or a LSP. It really setups nice after a day. Paint looks brighter and glossier with some added slickness. Reflections are good as well.

I would personally put OCW durability between 8 to 10 weeks (max). This is on a daily driver that is outside 24/7. Under "extreme conditions" in Honolulu, HI. :) All that sun, surf, and nice cold beverage...hehehe. But seriously, for a spray wax it is more durable than others I have tried.

I got a full three months on a Lexus SC430 (applied over Clearkote's RMG) that is garaged at night and sits in the sun during the say, about 50 feet from railroad tracks (switching tracks). I applied OCW x 2 to a regular's car that I wash conventionally once or twice a month and the off weeks he takes to a tunnel wash. I am intested in seeing how it holds up under that regiment. It is also garaged at night and driven 400 or so miles a week.
