Nxt!!!

I apologize for bringing up the topic about a product that has been beaten to death.

But being a pre-autopian, I just have to keep beating it.:shocked

Anyway, I just recently detailed my blue 2002 Acura RSX-S, with these steps:

WASH

CLAY

DACP (with PC)

#9

#7

and NXT!!!

my car is always clean, but normally overtime cobwebbing reappears because I didn't used to have a PC. but the point is that once i got to the NXT, it seemed to really really bring out the color of the paint, shine, as well as the overall really wet look, even after #7 show car glaze.

so i seriously and curiously why do some people still choose to bash on the NXT?

i may be venting a bit, but good lord, at 15 bucks it stills surprises me til today how great it works! and how easy it is to work with.

and not to mention after letting it cure, i can top it off with a favorite pure carnauba (i use #16) and that same "just waxed" look is still there for a LONG TIME.

okay im done. :xyxthumbs

Durability is the biggest drawback of NXT. Many users have gotten about 2 weeks out of it. Why pay $15 for a two week 'sealant', when you can buy an OTC paste wax for half the price with double the longevity?

Yes, NXT looks nice after intial application. Anything will look decent initially with good prep (olive oil, spit, diet coke). Tell me how the car looks in a month without re-topping.

Where Meguiars really shot themselves was with the expectations they created. Autopians were expecting (rightly or wrongly) a Zaino slayer. They didn't get it.

Bill.

I'm doing my moms Cavallier today .. last done on 10 March with NXT There is still the NXT gloss there and some sheeting. The car is not well taken care of and washed once a month. We live in an industrial town with some pollution issues and it has survived that.

Maybe 1/2 the NXT issues are related to how it is treated .. maybe all the QD'ing is causing problems with it. Maybe people topping it with waxes with minor solvents in it degrade it.

I have a few daily drivers I have done with it and they are holding up just fine after 2/3 months. None of these cars get much more than the odd wash.. no QD .. no Toppers.

I too have had great results with NXT durability. On one daily driver that I applied it to on April 24th, four months ago, water is still beading profusely.

For me the durability is a non-issue as NXT has proven on multiple vehicles that it provides long lasting protection.

Not too crazy about Nxt, but got to admit I had ~3 months out of it with one wash/week w/ Golden class and Quick Detail. Nothing's special w/ 3mos durability. Just the norm.

it may not be so much bashing, but more of keeping everyone informed of their experience because i can imagine those who didn't like NXT when it first came out aren't using it anymore.

and i guess it depends on how you determine durability. if you go with slickness, in my experience that has been about 4 weeks. if you go by shine/gloss, also about 4 weeks. but if you go by beading of water, i've had it bead at least 8 weeks. so it works and has been pretty durable for me.

I see someone is learning from all the time they spend at online detailing forums. :up :up

I've heard more positive than negative lately. You may be right that those that tried NXT when it first came out just didn't give it another shot.

When I first used NXT the look was great, but it didn't last long. Once I properly cleaned and prepped the surface and reapplied two coats, the finish looked awesome and NXT lasted a very long time.

I feel prepping the finish was key to the success I had with NXT! I haven't used Zaino, but from what I've read on this forum, the prepping of the surface is key as well. This is true with any sealant! I've read several posts where people who didn't prep the surface properly before using Zaino when it first came out didn't have great success either with the application lasting any length of time.

So, as we all know, it's all about surface preparation!!!!

I've been very pleased with NXT. Great look, excellent slickness (well for about 3-4 weeks, it does drop off after that) and decent durability. I got almost 5 months of beading, appearance and slickness with AIO/NXT over single stage white paint but normal durability seems to be 3-4 months on my customer's cars.

I have found that I do get the best results applying NXT with a polishing pad using my PC.

All the NXT I apply is by my 4" orbital.. wipe off by hand.

BTW the 32 Ford I posted in click & Brag that was done with NXT was sold last weekend and the thing that brought the buyer originally to the car was the shine and sparkle.

Not bashing NXT but quite simply (IMO) there are other products that provide as good or better finish, are easier to use, create less problems with trim and equivalent or better durability. For isnstance I prefer WG and EX-P for these reasons.

If NXT is your prduct and you are happy with it great!

I use my girlfriends accord as a project car and did 8 weeks w/ one coat of NXT and it still was protecting well, car even felt very smooth still (not as smooth as day one though). Car is parked outside 24/7 and we are a block from the ocean so the salt plays havic

Last week I stripped it and put on zaino. Will give that an 8 week test.

Who cares if it lasts longer then say 6-8 weeks when most of us are gonna be re-applying every month.

There is always something "better" and there are many products just as good.

But I don't possibly say how there could be much that is easier to use. There are a bunch that are equal in use IMO, but nothing could be much easier.

This is true for those that don't have to deal with winter like us in the NorthEast or other places. It better be a proven winner in the durability field. It has to last 3 or 4 month's.

I've used Nxt. It's good, easy on, easy off and last a looong time. If You don't like Nxt, you're not a detailer, not even close and even worse if you wash your car with Dawn. Period.:nixweiss :nixweiss

PS: J/K :rofl :rofl

I can make a vehicle in decent shape, look very good at a reasonable price using NXT.....It lasts about three months for me too..So far, those clients have been very satisfied, and that's what counts
