NXT/Winter/No prep

Well it got *ALL* the way up to 35 F here this morning so I washed the car and layed a layer of NXT on some of it.

The car was not prepped at all ( That comes in a month or so ) and all thats on it is whats left of last years Zaino.

I applied it to the trunk / roof/ hood and had a coffee so it could dry .. I buffed with a small MF. Came off very easy.

The only place I had sun to work with was on the "C" pilar on the pass. side so I applied it to only 1/2 of that to see how it handles the spiderwebs there. When I buffed it off most of the spiderwebs were visably gone compared to the part where I didn't apply NXT. ( Is that an oxymoron? How can you visably see something thats not there?)

The roof had little or no maring and it came out great.

Even tho the hood had a winter of abuse its not in to bad a shape. I have a few mars and some spiderwebs . And a cat scratch.

I mostly filled the spiderwebs and it made the cat scratch less noticable. I think if I would have applied it with the PC it might have got more.

Where I applied it has a nice wet look and a little warmth.

Sorry the pix aren't great .. there was no sun to show off the difference between the lack of spiderwebs on the hood compared to the fender.

All in all I am impressed.

I am going to do a few panels on our Passat tomorrow. I can't believe you've still got snow on the ground...it's depressing after a while. Our snow has finally melted but more expected Monday.

Hey there Jesstzn!

Nice to see you got hold of the NXT! Great pics!

I am too waiting for warmer weather so I can bust out the PC and whip some of the NXT on the SC430. My garage in our condo does not have electricity:(

It seems applying NXT via a PC and the Megs polish pad is the way to go. :xyxthumbs

Have a good weekend!

Regards,

Deanski

 Your hood looks really good! Very sharp reflections too.

Is that snow I see on the ground around your car? Ugh. It finally has warmed up here. After one of the coolest Februarys I can remember around here, it has been around 70 the past few days.

Ya Scott that was snow .. snowed 3" in the last 2 days .. Hopefully its over .. TY for the compliment .. It will look even better after the Menzerna twins later this month or early next.

:nixweiss I got it from jgv. I am definitely going to have him buy me some and ship it to me (yes, I will pay him for it).

Jesstzn & Scottwax,

I think the Menzerna product you are talking about could be the new "Finishing Touch Glaze" that is being talked about at CMA. Click on the Reference Shine page and scroll down to see what I am talking about. They also have a new sealant coming out that sounds pretty interesting as well. Both of these products should be coming out by the end of March. I am looking forward to trying this stuff out!

Cheers,

:nixweiss The stuff I have is white and has a different product number.

This is the description I got from Jose:

"Menzerna Final Polish PO85U - New to me, supposed to be a glaze that does not contain silicones or abrasives."

The only way to describe the look is very clear and glossy.

I think NXT is does a nice job, but didnt last long for me, and I did prep. My car sits outside 24/7 and gets washed once a week so that doesnt help. but its a nice product with great results. Ill still use it like once a month since its so easy to apply and remove.

Notice how 'clear' it looks on black (the FP/NXT combo):

Holy ****! Excellent work. It is VERY clear and reflective. How much of that do you attribute to prep work, and how much does the NXT add? I've been really impressed with NXT on my pearl white; it adds a "glow" and reflections that even #20 doesn't. But that black looks simply amazing.

I've also noticed on my white that a panel with #3 + NXT has no difference next to a panel with just NXT (both done with #9 prior). Have you noticed with NXT that the benefits of additional steps aren't as noticeable as those same steps with a different wax/sealant?

Dave

Dave-a glaze isn't absolutely necessary since NXT has some minor cleaning properties, so if you have used something like #9, you can go straight to NXT. If the paint is already in good shape though (as in no polishing needed), I do use a glaze and NXT.
