NXT vs. AIO vs. EO Floropolymer vs. BRAND X

A friend just received his bottle of NXT and we couldn't wait to try it out.



I'll start off with a brief "review" of the product... Smells like a certain hair shampoo, I don't see it to be as easy to apply as AIO and other paint cleaner/waxes since it kinda grabs a little... Removal can leave some streaks, but nothing serious. Very slick, very very slick. Fills well... How well? Let's see



Tested is a trunk of an E46 325 BMW with metallic black. Really, really swirled up.



Lined up are the products I'll be trying out. All applied by hand since most people won't have orbitals or rotaries.



Note: This is a mere comparison of how well each product fills swirls and webbing, and not a thorough review of each product



Products:



Eagle One Floropolymer Sealant - Pro-line

Meguiar's NXT

Klasse AIO

A self branded quick cleaner wax product we call Liquid Shine

Note: I apologize for not having the AFTER photo for the EO Sealant, I took one and it was out of focus, but didn't have time to take a 2nd shot since my camera ran out of juice.



But just for the record, the EO filled the most swirls, maybe because the product was quite thick to begin with, around 2x thicker than NXT, 4x thicker than AIO
 
Here's another car (same day)... The car was last waxed around 3 weeks before this shot was taken, 1 coat of S100 was on it. Swirls were'nt that bad at all and S100 still beads well at this point.



Since AIO and NXT had cleaners, we've decided to hit them head on.

Our initial conclusion....



All products did wonders on the weathered BMW, when we took out the painter's tape, the shade of the untreated, taped area were at least 2 shades lighter.



As for filling properties... I, (read... My opinion) found that AIO works better with reducing spiderwebs and swirls than NXT... Especially when we tested it on the CRV... The difference is quite noticeable even to "untrained" customers.



Although with the BMW, the difference wasn't all that different between the 4 panels, maybe because of the moderate to severe condition of the paint.

Slickness - NXT

Ease of Application - AIO

Ease of Removal - AIO

Depth - NXT

Wetness - NXT

Reflectiveness - AIO

Swirl/Web Reduction - AIO

Smell - NXT

Cost - NXT



I think the results will be more dramatic if an orbital is used, but I think there will be a lot more "variables" if I did it using an orbital.

ps awesome results / test... really amazing what nxt does compared to initial thoughts. would love to see some sg on that aio :P

Great writeup. Maybe its the action of the PC when applying the NXT that gets it to hide/round off cobwebbing so well, in my experience it hides cobwebs much better than AIO, but I use a PC :nixweiss
 
I do agree, if an RO or rotary is used, some products work better... But I wanted to test this by hand to reduce the variables involved since I think it's easier to apply consistently by hand with the same quantity of product per panel than with an RO...



With our Liquid Shine, it works quite well with an RO as well. Check this thread out for a sample
