nice details. what would you say that the turtle wax added to the finish when used as a topper. it does seem to hold to its name with glossiness, since that's better than i've ever seen NXT alone.

After using the new TW (paste form) and smellling its high solvent content, I'd have to wonder how much of your NXT was left after applying the TW. Because of this, I never even considered appying TW as a topper.

Question: Did you use the paste or liquid?

I used the liquid stuff. The turtle wax seems to add a nice deep glow. NXT will get the bright shine but doesnt really have that super deep wet look that adding the turtle wax gives.

This was copied from turtlewax website

"Platinum Series

Ultra Gloss Paste Wax

Extraordinary formula of pure Brazilian Carnauba Wax combined with Bavarian Montan wax to provide maximum shine, perfect clarify and deep gloss to a car's finish. Formulated with fluoropolymer resins to fill in minor scratches and swirl marks. Layering several coats of Platinum Series Wax will further enhance the shine and clarity of the car's finish."

Evidently it doesnt have cleaners....thats why i used NXT first and then topped with this. The more coats the better it gets also

It definitely has cleaners, about the same amount as NXT. I think that almost any mass-marketed wax should and will have some cleaners, to ensure best results for the widest range of users.

Nevertheless, it is an excellent off the shelf product, and a worthy choice for Autopian and non-Autopian alike. Look past the brand name.

I used it over NXT, back in February. I couldn't say that I did or didn't see any NXT influence on the result; as soon as I saw red on the applicator I wasn't looking for one.

How can you actually layer with cleaners though? Turtle wax says that you get better results by adding multiple layers.

I dunno, I guess the same way that you "lather, rinse, repeat" with shampoo. If I made it, I'd recommend using the whole bottle for best results.... "Apply to car. For best results, squeeze 1/2 of contents down drain, then apply a second coating of product to your car." :D :D

Otherwise, I really don't know.

I am very interested in this combination, because I have TurtleWax Platinum paste and Meguiars NXT paste (unused yet).

But I want to know whether the combo

Meguiars NXT + TurtleWax Platinum

is really better than

Meguiars NXT,

TurtleWax Platinum,

Meguiars NXT + Meguiars NXT,

or

TurtleWax Platinum + TurtleWax Platinum.

I do not want to test the combo in the near future, becuase my next waxing should last through winter. If I do something unproven (unpredictable result by unintended mixing of different chemical) and get poor protection, I will hardly have opportunity to correct it in cold harsh winter.

TurtleWax is a layarable cleaner wax. Below is from TurtleWax web (Get Waxed Tour, http://www.turtlewaxtour.com/).

==========

Mild polishing agents safely remove stubborn road film. The carefully balanced formulation permits the option of multiple coats without deleterious buildup or removal of the previous coating. This allows customers to build the optimal finish for ultra protection for their distinctive vehicle. However, Platinum Series Paste Wax is designed to provide ample protection and shine with a single coat.

TurtleWax also claims "This 21st Century, polyurethane-enriched silicone formula contains no wax and cleans/protects in one easy operation. New and Improved Finish 2001Œ can withstand the rigors of 52 car washes‹the proof is in the beading. "

RadMon,

NXT might be pretty strong against some chemical. I applied it on stainless steel pot. It was not removed by Ajax Antibacterial Orange dish wash detergent. I was impressed. It was removed by all purpose cleaner (Meguiars Extra) though. But note that paint surface is very different from stainless surface.

In a UK test, TurteWax Platinum did better than NXT:

I used the TW once or twice in the past. My only major complaint was that that the bottle didn't pour the liquid nicely onto my PC/Pad.

I recently found some extra "ketchup" bottles @ walmart and put it in there.

I haven't used it since then though. . .

cars look good though!

have you ever used megs # 26 yellow tech wax ?? liquid ??

if so how would you compare the ultra gloss to this ?? any info on ultra gloss and durability
