NXT durability answer

Well a partial answer. Here are two pics of my RX330 finish with NXT Tech Wax applied back on 4/21/04. 68 days and still going strong. This is a daily driver that has been washed 8 times with NXT Tech wax and rained on about three times a week during this nearly 10 week interval. It is garaged evenings and parked outdoors every day.

Although it still looks great, the slickness feel is gone so I'll probably detail it over the July 4th. holiday weekend.

I wish NXT would bead for that length of time for me. I'm currently getting no more than 3 weeks of beading like your picture shows. By week 4, beading has almost disappeared.

If you don't mind my asking... what vehicle and what prep work was done? Is the vehicle garaged? What do you wash it with? What mitt? What has the weather been like in your area? Do you QD your car? Did you apply by hand or PC?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm puzzled by the fact that some people get poor durability and some get good durability with this product. There has to be some underlying reason for the variance we (collectively) haven't figured out yet.

To answer my own questions. I washed my RX330 with NXT Tech Wash, two bucket method with a sheepskin mitt. I clayed it with Mothers clay and followed up with MPPC with a PC. I then applied NXT Tech wax with a PC and layered a second coat 24 hours later. I wash the RX about every week with NXT Tech Wash and dry with a MF. No QD or anything else except for a small area on the roof that caught a bird dropping. My RX is garaged every evening but is out in the weather every day. We've had a lot of rain here this spring, at least three times a week it gets a free wash from the rain.

Also, how was the water induced on the surface? Sprayed on by a hose attachment? Bucket poured? Rainfall? etc... NXT doesn't last over 2 weeks for us here in Manila.

In the case of the two photo's, it was an afternoon rain shower that had just passed through. If you look closely on the second photo there is some road dirt evident on the surface in the lower right of the picture. Dirt doesn't show much with this color and the NXT slickness helps most of the dirt to wash right off.

Are all vehicles using NXT in Manila only lasting two weeks or is it like here where some last a long time and some others not?

jfelbab... I washed, clayed, DACP with PC, NXT x1 by hand. No washes or quick detailer used afterwards. The day after I did this I got struck down with a trapped sciatic nerve problem so I haven't been able to do anything with my car for like 4 weeks now. It's been kept outside and we've had quite alot of warm sunny weather along with the occassional day of rain.

I'm like you... I don't understand why there are so many differing experiences with this product? I get just as good durability from P21S wax. Very strange.

Does the original slickness (or close) return if you QD it?

I know that on surfaces where the wax really is totally or almost gone, QDing does fairly little, but on non-slick surfaces that still have protection on them (like an old coat of Klasse in my case) QDing the paint brings back a lot of slickness.

If I QD with Megs FD after washing like I have done in the past then the surface becomes lovely and slick again. But I put that down to the FD, not the fact that the NXT has all of a sudden come back to life.
