NXT Arrived ( Frozen Solid )

Order arrived today. I opened immediately and the package had a nice fragrance to it as to hint of the problems inside. Car wash bottle was damaded and leaking. NXT Spray wax frozen solid. DACP gallon was squashed a bit but looks intact. NXT wax looks ok.

Will the NXT wax and the DACP be ok since the package was clearly left out in the cold and frozen ?

I suspect the spray wax has a higher water content as it is frozen solid. I am calling Meguiars now.

Called Meguiars CSR. They kind of asked with the response of the "whole package is frozen" , I responded that the Spray Wax is clearly frozen solid and the NXT Car Wash bottle is damaged and leaking. I asked if the DACP and NXT wax would be ok if subject to freezing temps. Response was " well it should be" and the DACP would be kind of chunky. Car Wash and Spray wax are being sent to me but not the NXT wax and DACP.

1. NXT Spray Wax is frozen solid.

Look ma no hands, it stands on its own.

2. NXT Car Wash bottle is damages and leaking hence the scented package. Bottle was hit and creased at the bottom of course.

Hi Lost Pup,

I forwarded your post to the manager of Customer Care, while we can't control the weather, we'll probably do a little more to take care of the problem.

Stay tuned.

Mike

Lost Pup,

That was one of the main reasons I didn't order. It's not really Meguiar's fault, nor the shipping company. I figured I was almost 100% percent certain to receive frozen product up here in Canada.

Mike,

Any comment on how freezing effects NXT.

From my experience with No. 7 & 9 freezing once on me (Forgot to bring it in doors a few years back. The product never seems to work as well again.

I just received my NXT spray, car wash and techwax. Im in Micigan and our temps have been in the teens and 20's. Im not sure how long my box sat outside, but nothing was frozen solid. But that is a good question about how the cold, or freezing affects the products?

I'll have to check with one of the chemists on this and I think he's in Nashville today, but I'll check because it is an issue that needs an answer.

I guess that's a question I'd like the answer to, too. :(

It's not frozen solid, but enough that it "bloomed" when I pulled the seal off. I put it in a pot of hot water to thaw.

Edit: empirical evidence shows that it still works after a freeze. There was some separation, but a vigorous shaking mixed it right back up it seems.

The only problem I have is that if some of it formed crystals from the freezing, the crystal formation could have effected the properties of the formulation.

It's probably still usable, mostl likely just not as good as before it went through the deep freeze.

Update : Package from Megs received. NXT Spray Wax and NXT Car Wash arrived undamaged and unfrozen. Two of the four in the original order replaced by Megs.

Thanks Very Much

Question still stands , Does exposing DACP and the NXT wax to freezing temps in any way compromise them in any way ?

Shelf life, usability etc.

Comments Welcome

Hey Mike, try some newspaper in your shipments. It's a great insulator. I used to use it when I shipped live tropical fish.

BTW I got the NXT wax the other day and tried it Friday. The stuff was great. Lets see how long it last here in SO FLA.

Hey Fellow Autopians:

Mike replied to the "Freezing Discussion",

"If after thawing out, the product returns to a normal looking state, then it is highly likely that it is safe to use and performance will not have been affected.

If after thawing out the product has separated out, curdled or become lumpy, and cannot be returned to it’s original form by shaking, then it is highly likely that a change has taken place and the product will not perform as intended.

Mike "
