DEEP & WET
I plan to clay with CM followed by the Meguiars Medallion Paint Cleaner (MMPC) and Meguiars Medallion Paint Protector (MMPP). I have minor swirls on black paint with a few white scuffs here and there (as if the previous owner rubbed against a white wall or something), so my questions is:

1. What pad should be used with the MMPC to remove these swirls?

2. What pad should be used with the MMPP?

3. What additional products should be used to remove the white scuffs and with what pad?

4. DO you think the Meg's products above will look as good as AIO+SG+P21S on black... someone told me to try the Megs

BTW, I order the DAS PC kit so I have the orange, green, and blue pad... need more pads... I know

Thanks

JJ

Hey there J.J! Welcome to Autopia:xyxthumbs

To answer your questions:

1.) If you want to stick with MPPC, that's fine. I would go with a polishing pad on a PC DApolisher set at about 4. If you want to remove the swirls then you need something with more bite than MPPC. Try something like DACP. Gives a good combo of good cutting action but at the same time can be used multiple times a year without fear of cutting through the clearcoat. Use this with a polishing pad set at 5 on the PC.

2.)I have MPPP. Good stuff. I like to use MPPP with a finishing pad on the PC set at 3-4. You can use with a polishing pad since MPPP does contain some light cleaning properties. Though with all my LSP's(Last Step Product) I like to use finishing pads because all the prep work is done with all the polishing, claying and what not.

3.) Depends how deep the scuffs are. Not sure how effective a PC with a cutting pad would do the job. Some people use a cutting pad on a PC but it's not really the ideal pad for a PC. Usually cutting pads foam and wool are usually saved for a rotary buffer. IF you don't have a rotary, that's ok. I just recently bought a new Makita9227c rotary and I love it. To remove scuffs and other heavy defects, the rotary and cutting pad with a medium to heavy cut compound come to mind. The rotary makes tons more heat than does a PC in order to break down the compound and work it into the finish.

4.)This is kind of a personal preference thing. Hell, with the right prep work and proper procedures, Turtle Wax will look nice. AIO+SG+P21S I'm sure will look sweet on any color but will be sick on black:cool: Good luck,,,,,,,,AR
