Nuba over sealant durability

If you top a sealant with a nuba and you keep reapplying/layering it every month (nuba), would the underlying sealant last indefinitely theoretically since it's always protected by a fresh coat of nuba?

Then what's the point of having the sealant underneath if it's never going to be exposed?

Or is this just a theoretical question... :think2

Who knows, but 3 layers of Ultima PGP topped with Clearkote Carnauba Moose Wax or with P21s 100% looks amazing.

For backup and best of both worlds?

I believe that having sealant underneath the wax will brings some shine, reflection, and durability. The wax will add depth...However, using Carlack68 + Blackfire WD AFPP sealants combo, I hardly need wax for appearance purpose.

In a word... No. You still will find contaminants adhering to the surface. Sap, Insects, road grime, oil and sooner or later you will need to clay to remove them anyway.

That said I like applying #26 over #21 for winter time protection.

Back when I was topping my KSG with #16 I found that the #16 degraded into a kind of sutlbe but noticeable "dead wax" residue. It was hard to clay this off without getting so aggressive as to compromise the underlying KSG (and regulars here know that I clay my LSPs without compromising them all the time). Refreshing the topper helped, but didn't bring things back 100% to the original baseline.

So IME yeah, you get added protection that can last an incredibly long time, but you won't necessarily maintain the greatest looks and slickness.

One good thing about topping a sealant (not that I do it anymore...) is the way some carnaubas seem to provide better protection against certain environmental threats. IME putting something like Collinite or #16 over top of some sealants (i.e., the ones I've used) will provide better protection against etching from bird bombs and bug guts.
