Norton liquid ice polish

Well, I'm not going to start any drama here, but if you've
frequented the other site, you probably know what I'm talking
about.

That said...

I touched based with all my dad's bodyshop suppliers,
and they've either never heard of Liquid Ice, or don't have it for
sale. In any case, OPT product line seems less expensive, and
is more readily available, while Norton seems only available
through certain dist.

Was this dicussed on another site were drama takes over numerous threads? I did intend for drama or the pettiness as I do not like as and it distracts from the real discussion. Liquid ice is a new products and replaces Norton's old line of liquid abrasives so it may not be completely distributed to all Norton PBE's. At a local PBE there is a Norton liquid abrasive chart on the counter, for the old line which I looking for more information when I found liquid ice is the replacement. Liquid Ice is only a few dollars more a quart then the OPT. I plan on trying OPT due to the good reviews and ability to use different pads to change abrasiveness.

No drama here. I'm not sure what exactly you were asking me. I haven't seen any other threads on this product as of yet. With respect to their quote: "Liquid Ice™ allows you to finish the job faster and without cross contamination so you can get the job done right...." my comment was simply that few brands/products are capable of being the best "do all" across the board.

No, this particular product is not discussed in nearly as great detail
as some other products (brand X is brand Y sort of thing). And no,
I did not think you were looking to be petty; in fact I'm not even sure
why I even posted that comment as I think about now.....My apologies
to you.

As to cost, well, one of the dist. i spke to that had access to Liquid Ice,
told me the cost was around 30.00 per qt. Considering the the Norton
and OPT polish are similar in what they do, I opted to give the OCP
a try. The guys at the bodyshop are still pretty much old-school, so
I don't see them making an investment in Liquid Ice for a while. but
when they do, I am definitely going to give it a shot.

All that said, I don't really think you will be disappointed with Optimum
Polish. This has begun to impress me nearly as much as SSR2.5, IP,
FPII,and 85rd.
 
I used to be a big user of the norton liquid abrasive line. I like the 04B and 03B. They make quick work of just about anything. You can even remove 500 grit (not 5000, but 500) grit scratch with it along with a good lambswool pad and it still leaves a resonable finnish to polish out. 03B is a great cutter that's fast and leaves a good finnish. 02B is worthless IMO as its a deminishing abrasive that takes forever to deminish. 01B is ok, but not as good as most other products I use that do the same thing. That said, I now use Menzerna but still keep 04B and 03B on the shelf because I feel they have a place. 04B is awesome for working with your hand too!
 
Norton is a subdevison of St Gobain. A huge company based in europe. I don't belive they are rebaged autoglym. I know St Gobain makes the abrasive. After all they are one of the largest abrasive makers in the world. Perhaps they are the same product, but it's not simply rebaged auotglym.
 
I used the Norton Liquid Ice. I was not impressed. It did not deal well with heat, and was difficult and expensive to use, for me.

I ran out of PB2.5 and tried that in a pinch. I prefer PB 2.5 20 to 1 over LIquid Ice.

Maybe Autoglym's line of liquid abrasives was rebranded Norton's. Who cares really who makes it.

Eric...If you want a sample of Optimum, just stop by the house. I'll have my packaging manager fill up a bottle for you. Just remember to tip in Milkbones. :D
