What is the normal number of steps you do on your average car? I know if the car is beat, it takes more, but what is the average?

I usually do 2, but if the customer wants to spend the money, or its a really nice car, then I would go out to 4. For my car and my wifes or sons, its always 4.
Now are you just talking about 2 for polishing, or are you including application of your LSP as well?

Bo ha ha - my wife's car is lucky to get 1. I can't wait for my kids to grow up to learn how to do detailing. I'm planning on buying each one of them a Makita for their B-day. Just a tad bit of wishful thinking.....

I dont really count washing or claying. It would be more of polishing and the LSP product.

Yeah, I have a 12 year old girl and a 7 year old boy. If I can get them to not run their ski jackets up against the black Jetta, I'm happy
...and that doesn't happen that much!

Assuming that you are referring to detailing the exterior of the vehicle, I typically use the following steps for my customers vehicles and my own:
1. Wash/Dry
2. Clay
3. Wash/Dry
4. Intensive Polish (if required)
5. Final Polish
6. Glaze
7. Sealant
Of course there's also various degrees of work on the engine, tires, wheels, wheel-wells and interior.

OK, I am not up to date with the lingo, but what is "KBM"?

KBM= Kevin Brown Method. Im sure itll be posted here soon.
I usually do 2- 3 polishing steps and it takes me about 4- 6 hours per step depending on the condition of the car and assuming the owner wants 95%+ correction.

i did all that and added blackfire carnuba and still ended with swirls. dont know exactly what i'm doin wrong...
