noob question about durability

gday all. i have a caravan and a civic sitting outside in the street while my car is babied in the garage. i have been neglecting them pretty badly, and i honestly do not have a clue of when the last time i waxed them was. dont lynch me! hahaha

any how i was looking for the most durable sealant out there. i have ex-p but i was told they do not last very long.

any one have any input?

thanks all!

:D

edit: after some for detailed searching, people have said that Zaino Z-2PRO is very durable, and Klasse' sealant topped with wax comes in second. where would i go to buy the zaino?

thanks again!

Well I am not sure. I guess go to a vendor that facilitates international orders. I am assuming that you are living outside the USA.

Here is a web site link: http://www.waxit.com.au/ This vendor also has a detail site like Autopia that I have found very enjoyable to peruse. http://www.detailparadise.com.au/ Some very accomplished detailers that are helpful as well.

Hope this helps.

Zaino is the longest beading product- Finish Kare 2180 *claims* to last 1 year. Poorboy claims EXP will last 3-6 months depending on environmental factors. (your mileage may vary)

I have heard good things about Menzerna FMJ. I used it on my Subaru last week. I used Zaino Z2 with ZFX on the wifey Honda as always and I want to see how they fair against each other.

Multiple layers (say, six) of KSG can last an incredibly long time (and that's untopped too). But sealants are pretty unforgiving when it comes to the appearance of imperfect finishes. I'd use Collinite wax and reapply every few months as needed. It *always* lasted all winter on the beater I used to keep outside 24/7 and those were some nasty winters.

I'd go with any of the waxes from Collinite. I tried the Marque de Elegance this fall on my '04 Dakota, which sits outside year long, and it still beads when washed after almost 5 months. I am very impressed with the durability of Collinite thus far. I've also tried the Insulator wax, and the Double auto coat wax with similar results!!

I agree about Collinite. Since you have EX-P, I'd just do one or two layers of EX-P, and then top with Collinite Insulator Wax.

a layer or two of a sealant topped with collinite would last a really long time! Plus, collinite looks halfway decent. dont forget to at least clay the car/van before hand so u can get the most durablity out of the lsp's.

Klasse SG went 4 months still stong on my dad's car, but I had to try out my new wax, so there goes that durabilty test. BTW that was 3 consecutive layers and the car sits outside 24/7 and goes to a steel mill during week days, so its not babied. I'd go SG route, when applied correctly (very thin) it is very easy to use. Collinite seems good too, only been on for a couple days though, but its holding up great. lol

I just received my Collinite and cant wait to give it a shot !

And Im not really a Nuba user, but something about it (Probably you guys) made me decide to try it.....

Why don't you start washing your car monthly, and applying a sealant every 6 months? This way, you don't have to go all out for the best of the best in durability.

6 months out of any product, even when maintained religously, is relativel hard to achieve on a daily driver. Even multiple layers of sealants start to go out around 5 months. Instaead of resealing 2x a year, i'd go for either 3 or 4 times a year. That way you know you'll always have the optimal protection.

thanks for all the great inputs. i think i would like to try the zaino, and then do a little more reseach on the Collinite waxes.

i would like to wash each car monthly, but the van is my fathers, and the civic belongs to my sister. it's hard to find a weekend where they do not need their car. and living in san francisco, its rather hard to find a day where its a good day to detail. all 3 of the cars are either over 100,000 miles or close to it. actually the van has more than 200k miles. the oldest car is probably 7 years old, and the newest car is just about 4. these cars go everywhere for us.

It's a caravan and civic... His own car is already in the garage and I assume is getting the best care too. :)

I do a Zaino treatment every 3-4 weeks I have about 40 coats of Z2Pro/Z5 on my car and IMO its the best sealant out there can't wait to the new Z5Pro comes out!

wow! that must be one slick car. do you do a complete detail each time you layer the sealant? or do you just do a simple wash and layer?
