Hey guys I've been doing some reading, and you guys know your ish when it comes to detailing cars.

So, that being said I have washed and waxed a car a hundred times, I have done them by hand, by a 6in palm buffer from walmart, etc, but never have I touched a brand new cars paint.

I have a brand new car and I don't want to mess up the clear coat, spider web scratches, etc, so I'm debating doing it by hand and I'm really not wanting to due to the size of the vehicle. I'm debating on buying the PC, I currently have a 6in palm buffer that I have used numerous times with terry bonnents with good success but never on brand new paint where any damage is going to show up.

I'm looking at Klasse AIO and Klasse Sealant, I have terry applicators, microfiber bonnents/towels. I'm just not sure what to use with what in what combination either by hand or by the palm buffer until I can get the PC but I need to wax before then due to weather.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, J

I'm new to this too, and just did my first detail on my new car. These guys speak some foreign language, but there is no doubt they know their shiznit. ;)

Maybe I can help translate. The best suggestions I got from these guys is to use the Klasse Twins. That includes All-in-One (AIO) and Sealant Guard (SG). This is what I did:

Wash with Maguires NXT Wash (Two bucket method)

Clay with Sonus clay lube

Wash again

Klasse AIO

Klasse SG x2

If you drop your clay or applicator, get rid of it. I did this like 5 times, so get enough applicators so you dont have to worry about it. Also, don't skip the clay step on a new car. The difference was noticeable.

It came out really good. I'm now going to wash it again this weekend and Klasse SG x1 then apply some P21s, which was recommended as a last step product (LSP) by some people here.

I REALLY wouldnt worry about doing it by hand. My whole detail took 5 hours, but I suck at it. Applying AIO was maybe 30 minutes and each SG coat was 30-45 each. I personally don't see how SG would have gone faster with a PC. I think it would have slowed my process down.

As for SG, they are telling you to go thin, and you cannot take that lightly. Thin thin thin. I used a wipe-on/wipe-off method first, then I got a little more brave and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. I would use a few drops on my applicator for about a 2'x2' area. I used a spray bottle to sort of spritz a bit on.

I think the Klasse Twins are the most widely accepted solution for general purpose care on new paint. Most of the products discussed here seem to be for special problems are based on one preference or another.

I'm probably going to try Zaino in the spring. Good luck!

I believe you meant Sealant Glaze. ;)

The difference between your WalMart buffer and a PC is very significant. If you spent the money on a brand new car, please spend the money on decent products for your car. AIO/SG is a good combo for it.

For more ease of use, you could look into AIO/WG or AIO/UPP.

WG = Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant http://www.autogeek.net

UPP = FourStar Ultimate Paint Protection http://www.exceldetail.com

Ok, so everyone says go with UPP, but I read on autopia that polymer based sealants aren't as good as say Klasse SG that is acrylic when using products on top of it.

What is the low down?

This was about the worst mistake i made in my pre-autopia days. I cant tell you how much paint correction was needed because of the "walmart" buffer.

save money, and save headaches. do it by hand until you can afford a PC.

im failry new to the site as well, but welcome!!

josh,

you and i both live in a state where snow, salt, and extremely cold weather is non-existant. losing a months worth of durability by using UPP vs SG is a sacrifice I make because in my eyes UPP has far superior looks to SG, especially on a metallic paint like ours. The flake just stands out and makes it look so nice :D If you still really want to get the best durability out there, put some collinite 845 insulator wax on top of UPP.

You can top UPP as well as SG after the curing time with no ill effects. Oh ya, lose the Wal-Mart buffer...PLEASE !!!! A PC is the way to go.
