No heat

A recent cold spell had forced my girlfreind to try and use her heater. We found out that her heat is not working. Could it be the thermostat? Her a/c is working fine. She has a 99 Ford Tuaras. If any body can help I would appricate it.

well sine the a/c working, I will assume the heat just blows out air that is not warm(correct?)

I would first check the level of the coolant and bleed the system of air

this could solve your problem, if not let us know!

The thermostat would be an easy check. I would start there.

It turns out that it was low on antifreeze. Really low in fact. There is a pin hole size hole on the top of her radiator resavior that is causeing fluid to shoot out of. I thought i had fixed it make in feb with a patch kit. Must not have took, so I put something else over it. I dont wana have to replace the res. Thanx for the advice.

glad I could help

what are you going to use to patch it?

I would scuff up the area well, then use some jb weld

good luck

I tried to to patch it. The patch wont hold so I got a new one. Is it simple to replace?? I am scared that I will screw up. Anybody ever don this before? Please help

I have not done it on that car but it should be easy!

1.) start with a cool engine (this way there is no pressure in the system)

2.) if you have the new one, look at it there should be a spot for the hose to hook up

and some mounting holes for the screws

3.)unhook the hose, remove the screws, pop the old one out

4.)put the new one in, replace screws, replace the hose, fill and check for leaks

hope this helps
