no ferrari, but still painful

Well I was going to watch it, but once my download time got over 15 minutes (stupid 26.6K dial up :( ), I cancelled it!

I had a friend with a stroked 5.0L Stang, and he made the stupid mistake of spending a ton of money on power upgrades without upgrading the tires. I told him he was stupid to do that, and about 4 hours after he was all done on the car, he took it out for a drive and crashed it around a turn.

I guess that's one way of skipping someone in the turning lane.. Can you imagine if you were in that volvo wagon? Luckily, there were no oncoming cars. Some people are just too stupid, and inexperienced.

yea, that was 600HP+ on the stock tires, you do the math.

600+bhp on stock tyres (sorry, tires ;) ) wouldn't be so much of an issue if that guy had a couple of ounces of driving skill, but he evidently doesn't, hence what happened there...

Oh well, as my Dad always used to say "experience is the best school and only fools learn in it twice" - I guess he won't be doing that again in a hurry :LOLOL

Forget driving skill, what that driver lacks is common sense and responsibility. If you know that you're car makes that kind of power, you should know that traction will be a problem. You should also know that you don't decide to let your 600 hp car stretch it's legs when there are that many cars around! My car is far from 600 hp, but it's not the slowest thing on the road either. If I am going to risk wiping it out, I find a back road so that I dont take anyone with me if things go sour.

I like your dad's saying.

You don't need 600HP on stock tires to lose traction, obviously. You do need to know to back of the go pedal when traction breaks though.

I regularly take one of my cars to the strip at California Dragway in Fontana for their Street Legal Drag nights, and the announcer is always reminding people that it's better to lift and spoil a run than keep your foot in it and spoil your car. I've seen so many people in totally stock cars ignore this rule and stuff them into the k-rail, including a stock 2002 SS Camaro that was destroyed when it bounced off one side, spun across the track and smacked the other side. Luckily the driver wasn't injured and the other car didn't get hit.

Sometimes I think the rarest thing on earth is common sense.
