This car is at a local auto auction and all the dealer wanted was to get rid of the holograms but i couldn't resist to throw a little EX on their just for kicks. If it was my car, i woud've done the Menzerna trio... but he didn't wanna pay to get the paint perfect, just wanted the holograms gone... so that's what i did. either way, fun car and it turned it out good.

Process

Menzerna IP with rotary

Menzerna FP with rotary

PB's EX w/carnauba by hand

303 on tires

Klasse AIO on wheels

303 on the soft top

and of course wash, clay, all MF towels etc etc

Looks 100x's better. Nice work!! Do you have an after shot with the top up? I would like to see how the top came out.

Wow... the befores make me think like there´s some kind of "monkey detailer" out there... damm holograms!!!

Great restoration, car now must be already sold ;)

horrible previous rotary work.. I can't believe they drove around with it in that condition. Nice transformation

Do you think you could have gotten the holograms up with a PC? Reason I ask is I may end up detailing a car with a good deal of them and I only have a PC and orange pads.

Wow... I've actually never seen paitn like that. That's what happens when you a noob with a rotary? GREAT job!!

... not necessarily a noob... could be an "un-enlightened, non-detail-oriented" detailer that's done the same thing on every car for years. I once worked in the detail department at a dealership, & the lead guy had no "formal" training per se. It was "just a job" to him- not necessarily a passion. I remember he'd just go to town on any given vehicle with the rotary... rarely changing pads or cleaning old ones, setting it down on the ground, etc. Never checked his work out in the light either.

i'm not sure if my PC would get it out or not. i didn't even attempt with the PC because i am more than comfortable enough with my rotary. I think the PC might have gotten the holograms out, but not the deep down swirls that were in the paint. Even 2 passes with my rotary using IP didn't get "all" the defects out, so i know the PC wouldn't have gotten them either. If it was my ride, i wouldn't definately gone with PG, IP, then FP.

Thank you everyone for the compliments. i havn't posted or whore'd the boards at all lately so it feels good to post up some work again :)

Probably. 95% of the time, rotary holograms are easier to remove than halo swirls, at least in my experience.

vdog :bow Just incredible! Proper polishing and EX on red.
