News from Petroferm/Michelin on Product Distributor

SilverLexus

Super Enthusiast
Many of us have not been able to fnd these great new Michelin tire products.

After doing some research, it appears that only 2/3 of the AutoZone stores carry the product. Fortunately it is selling out so AutoZone is likely to pick up the line in an even bigger way. I also have heard that Petroferm (license holder and mfr for Michelin) is talking to other Auto parts stores.

So what do we do in the interim? Buy mail order from their distributor. :)

Here's the information as supplied by one of their customer service reps:

Excellent info.

I was in AutoZone today for other reasons, I glanced at the detailing isle. I looked for the Michelin products and noticed that there were ony one of each product. I still havn't had a chance to try out my tire shine yet, just too much rain in the forcast around here lately.

The customer rep Alexia told me that their biggest problem was that AutoZone was having severe shortages...but she added that this will obviously lead to them carrying deeper inventory at more stores. I asked about Pep Boys and she mentioned they are talking to a number of large retailers like them.

I think we will soon see national availability.

I'm surprised they passed you by Lee.

The AutoZone around here near Daytona has/had them. I would have thought Georgia would have had first picks.

Are they simply out or never had them at all by you?

They just opened one store and they have not had the first batch yet according to the store manager. I went to 2 other stores and they had not seen the product. Must be slow on the uptake here in the local stores.

"There is no mention of this product on the Michelin European sites"

It's because Michelin licensed it to Petroferm who is a contract chemical manufacturer. Maybe they could have a European distributor you can buy from. Click the "Contact Us" tab on the www.petroferm. com site and call the Customer Service number. Maybe they are partnered with someone in Europe.

I also saw on the Michelin US site absolutely no mention of the products which is odd...they should showcase the products given the reception so far and the huge brand name of Michelin...

I did have some available. Only a few people were really even interested in it. I sent out most of what I had for people to play with and test, months ago. There are cases of the products (and some unreleased products) just sitting around in peoples garages. If you ask the right people, you can probably get a lifetime supply.

I haven't seen any reviews for these products yet. How did you come to the conclusion that they are great?

With all the posts about this product and how everyone seems to want it............I sure hope that I'm not dissapointed when I try it out:o

These products seem to be readily available here in Ontario. Haven't bothered with them as I have my own favorites for tire and wheel care. Canadian Tire has them on their shelves here.

I read EBPCivic's review and it is majorly flawed. He compared a wheel applied with the brake dust repellant versus an unprotected wheel. What result would you expect?

I can't believe people are all excited about this stuff and calling it "great" based on that review.

He should have at a minimum tested against a front wheel that is applied at the same time with a quality sealant or even a QD product to see if the results were better with one or the other.

Dude, that's the right test.

EBPCivic was testing the effectiveness of the spray by itself so an untreated wheel was the control test.

Poorboys Wheel Sealant and AIO also work very well but even then it is quite possible that Wheel Sealant plus the Michelin spray would be even better.

And if horses had wings they could fly...dude...its all pie in the sky...until someone does actual testing instead of conjecture I'll wait and see whether this stuff is "great".

Sounds like multiple tests are needed with the first having been conducted: Michelin vs. untreated wheel.

Next, Michelin vs. popular sealant ( could be Klasse, Poorboy, etc).

Then, Michelin vs. popular sealant topped with Michelin.

Does this sound right?

Hmmm, I thought EBP's test was actual testing.

In any event, I may be able to try it against a wheel sealant soon. I like having the sealant on so maybe I will just try one wheel with sealant + brake dust repellant versus sealant only.
