Well, I finally did it. My first semi-serious detail was two days ago. My car is only four months old but did have some issues I wanted to address. Here was my routine.
1) Dawn wash
2) Clay
3) NXT liquid wax by hand with MF applicators and towels
Obviously thats not as extensive as most folks get but I wanted to keep it fairly simple for my first serious go at it. The clay bar (used Perfect Clay) really surprised me. I had my doubts that is actually worked as many said it did, but the finish was so smooth afterwards. It did take me a while (about 35 minutes) to clay my Accord but I assume that is b/c its my first time. I also noticed that its hard to wipe up the lubricant sometime. Okay, so I followed that by NXT liquid was. Very nice. Easy on/easy off. I assume the prior claying made it easier too. Hid alot of the small swirls too. The only thing that my process didn't solve was what looked like small random water spots on the hood/roof/trunk. I guess I'll have to use a PC (buying one now) and a genuine swirl remover/paint cleaner. Anyway, here are some photos I took after I finished at the fas station. My camera isn't the best quality so use your imagination...lol
