Newbie w/ PC ?'s

Hello All,

I've been looking through this forum and its search option for the past few days. I'm researching for my pc purchase, I'm pretty much sold on the 7336 w/ 5" backing plate, however I'm lost in regard to the foam pad?

My vehicle is a black Silverado SS, and to date has been to a professional detailer several times. So the paint, I think is in pretty good shape, however my detailer is really into carnuba (s/p?) wax and I'm coming into my own with Zaino. I want to continue hand applying the polish and use the pc for removal. I'm also unclear on what to use for polish removal? Foam pad or bonnet?

Any and all wisdom will be greatly apperciated:bow

TIA

For polish removal, you would either use a microfiber bonnet, or MFs by hand.

I would recommend using the PC for applying polish though.

There are many suppliers that put a 'package' together of foam pads/backing plate, inc Autopia, Proper Auto Care, Detailers Paradise, etc, etc.

This may give you an idea of what to look for.

Foam Pad Starter Kit:

1-Polish / Cutting Pad (*Yellow)

1-Polish / Light Cutting Pad (*Orange)

2-Polish / Waxing Pad (*White)

2-Finishing Pad (*Black)

1- Flexible Urethane Backing Plate

*The foam pad colour identifications and specifications are by Lake County Manufacturing (LC) www.lakecountrymfg.com other manufactures of foam pads use a different colour to identify the abrasiveness or cutting ability of their foam pads

Thanks for the replies,

One more question: does the black/finishing pad do the same thing as the mf bonnet (i.e. polish removal/buffing)?

TIA

You would use a finishing pad to apply a wax, glaze, sealer, etc. To remove you would buff off with a MF towel or a MF bonnet (over a clean pad).

If I'm going to use a MF bonnet I usually buff by hand with a MF first then follow up with the bonnet. That way your bonnet won't become clogged with product too soon.

BTW :welcome
