What's up guys I just bought a PC 7336 from Lowes and i'm about to order one of the Propel pad kits. Which backing plate should i get the 5" or the 6"??? I'm thinking the 6" becuase it will probably increase the pressure without me working as much. Anything else i need to start off?? Thanks.

If it were I, the larger of the three that are available would be the one to purchase. Having said that, ( the voice of experience talking) I would get all of the ones that are available. Mostly because the more you use your pc the more you will find places to use all of them. Each one has a place in detailing. BUT... you can do a damn fine job with just one.

The original Propels have a 5" diameter depression on the back of the pad, and that makes it incredibly easy to center the pad perfectly every time IF you have the 5" backing plate.

I agree though, I'd buy all 3 of the backing plates. They all have their place. I'd recommend picking up some of the 4" Propel Turbos as well, to use with the smaller backing plate (2.75").

Looks like I agree with cwcad and Whitemax. get all three if you can. each size pad and backing plate will come in handy at one time or another. one other thing I would say is to do some searches if you have not already done so , on using the PC. the wealth of info on this site will get you started and have you doing a great job in no time. :xyxthumbs

Whoa, thanks guys for all the quick replies. Ok so i'll just go ahead and get all three backing plates (5", 6", and 2.75"). I'll also definitely pick up the 4" turbo pads since those are best for tighter problem areas. My other question is what size pads are the propels??? On the site every description says 7" pads but i thought that anything above 6.5" was too big????? Does Propel carry 6.5" pads that i can use with both the 5" and 6" backing plates. Thanks again guys.

GET three of the pads from propel. I think they are propel 2. They are new pads just recently introduced. I just ordered a few. Then get the 4 inch pads. Get three of the LC advanced pads. From any vendor that you find the best price. I use the 7.5 inch pads with terrific results. I also have a rotary so I like to be able to use the same pads for two different machines.

What ever pads that you get be prepared to spend time learning. None of this is fast. I look at it as entertainment. So I can spend hours just doing the hood of my truck. The work is satisfying considering the results that one can attain.

The original Propels (P1) are 6.5" diameter. The newer P2s are 6" diameter. Both pads can be used with either the 5" or 6" backing plates. The P1s have a 5" diameter depression in the back of the pad though, so using a 5" plate makes for very quick centering.
