Newbie intro!

Hey guys, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a member of 350z-tech.com forums and I live in Birmingham, Alabama. If anyone wants to help with some newbie questions I have, I started a thread here:

Thanks in advance for the welcome!

Ditto jinxxycat.

If you have a Lowes nearby, you may be able to pick up a PC7336 for near $100 and spend the money you save on a nice pad kit like the one White95Max linked to.

There have been several threads comparring the two and the only difference is the counter weight which wont have a big effect on your efforts.

I own a 7336 and it works like a charm.

What are the differences in PC's? All I've heard about is the 7424 and that's all that's on their site. Which one would be the best for someone that's new to it, but would like to be advancing in their detailing skills?

I still don't see a differnece, with the exception that one is a polisher and one is a sander. there are a couple of different specs listed. Is that what your referencing in the links...ie the "No Load Speed"??? because it seems more like that is a reference to the fact that you can attach different things to it versus the sander where you would normally only be attaching the sand paper to it (not very heavy)

So everyone suggests the Excel pads?

What swirl remover do you guys suggest? I've been told Meguires #6 should do the trick, but I was looking for a few more suggestions.

Poorboys SSR 1, 2, 2.5

Meguiars #80 & #83

I like the Lake County pads but will soon add some Sonus pads from autopia-carcare.com.

:welcome to Autopia StudyBuddy!

Are you still wondering about the differences in the PC's? Well, check out this link at Coastaltool.com. It explains fairly well the differences in the machines.

I highly recommend the Propel pads from Patrick at exceldetail.com considering they are pretty cheap and do the job well. As far as my pad purchase goes, I purchased the Excel Plate/Pad Kit and 2 green, 1 yellow, and 1 orange Propel pads.

Oh and as a personal request, what steps/methods did you take in order to black out your tail lights and reverse lights? What brand/type of paint did you use? It looks like a really clean job. I'd actually like to do the same to my car since I have a black Integra. :xyxthumbs

Your Z rocks!!!

That's a very detailed process. I don't know if I would attempt it if I had never done it before. I can get you in contact with the guy that does them though. He's charging $130 for my friend's 240sx, but it has ridges and will be hard to do. He does the Z's for about $100 a pair. Would you like me to PM you his email?

All of the materials alone will cost you about $80-100 if you don't have any, and this guy has done so many that they will be guaranteed flawless.

Well, I think I'm going to go with the pads from exceldetail.com and the Poorboys lineup of products for the swirls. I'll be purchasing everything tomorrow! I can't wait!

Thanks for the info StudyBuddy... I have done my bumper lenses on my car and they came out alright but I was amazed at the quality of appearance on your tail lights. A big thumbs up to the guy that did your tail lights.
