Newbie here...any thoughts

I have done my research here and have learn lots, but still lots to learn. I have an 06 Burgondy Civic. I have only washed the car since purchase. Well today I went to Target. Here what I purchased:

Vroom Premium chenille wash mitt
5 Vroom microfiber towels
Meguiar's Cleaner Wax
Meguiar's Wheel Cleaner
Black Magic Tire Wet
Meguiars Gold Class Liquid Wax
Stoner Invisible Glass

Items I already have:
Turtle Wax Zip Wax
Black Magic bucket(it is red oblong with a black plastic screen insert)
I have these shammies I purchased at the NY International Car show. These are only washed by themselves.
And wash mitt that I used on my Expedition.

Questions I have:
Are the products I purchased from Target ok?
Should I look elsewhere for microfiber towels?
What am I missing in terms of products?
What do I use to apply the wax?
Is the applicator that comes w/ the Meguiar's ok to use?
Where can I buy clay OTC?
What steps in order should I do from wash to 1st wax?

This getting me in practice for the E92 I am picking up in Munich

Welcome to the site!

Might as well jump right into this with some answers to help you out:
Are the products I purchased from Target ok? Some are good... i'll go deeper later
Should I look elsewhere for microfiber towels? There are better quality towels on the market (especially from all of our sponsors...and all are worth it)
What am I missing in terms of products? You are going to need some clay for sure and then it depends if you want to polish the car to remove any spider webbing or swirls.
What do I use to apply the wax? The foam applicator is fine
Is the applicator that comes w/ the Meguiar's ok to use?
Where can I buy clay OTC? Any auto parts store.

Vroom Premium chenille wash mitt Watch out for swirling with this- a sheepskin mit may be a good idea
5 Vroom microfiber towels Get an old CD and rub the towels on the back and see if it scratches. If it does scratch, don't let these towels touch the paint. I believe that there are several members that use Vroom's towels.
Meguiar's Cleaner Wax I'm guessing that it is a decent wax. Don't expect phenominal results in defect removal. Can't say anything about looks or durability. Better than nothing though
Meguiar's Wheel Cleaner Should be fine
Black Magic Tire Wet I didn't like this. It turned my tires brown. I switched to Meguiar's Hot Shine (non aerosol) and haven't had the probelm since
Meguiars Gold Class Liquid Wax This would be better off to use rather than the cleaner wax. One or the other, not both.
Stoner Invisible Glass Great product... buy lots of it :) :)

I suggest that you clay the car before you go too deep into detailing to remove all of the debris that is on the paint. You may or may not need a light polish afterwards, it all depends. Hope this helped a little at least. Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions.

remember to use 2 buckets, one for soap, and one to wash out your mit in before you put it in the soap

Re: Newbie here...any thoughts on supply list

After reading the article on premium auto concerning microfiber I will be returning the applicators and possibly the viking towels to target. Now to just find the right pads for my PC7336. By the way is thr backing plate that comes withit ok or should I order a different one?

I know, I know use the search function. But any insight member s may have will be gladly accepted.

You have a few choices here. You can buy the popular Edge 2000 kit at Autogeek:
The Edge Dual Action 6 Inch Kit includes The Edge 2000 DuraFoam Pads & a dual action Edge Adapter. edge foam pads, double side pads, polishing pads
That'll get you started :)

Or, you can buy another pad kit and use the backing plate supplied like something like this:
Porter cable 7424 dual action kit 6 inch foam pads

I would also suggest picking up a light polish to use after you clay (SSR1 or SSR2 would be smart)

None the less, you will probaby want 2(+) cutting pads, 2(+) polishing pads, and a finishing pad...at minimum.

Oh yeah, sorry about that. I forgot you added more products to the list. That should work fine.
