Hey guys,

I decided to join the forums after ordering from autogeek for my son. He recently acquired a new truck from his dad(black 03 silverado SS) that he has had his eye on since my husband bought it new back in 2003. Our vehicles have mostly been treated to the usual carwash where you get out and some kids drive it through give it a quick dry, armor all, vacuum etc.. Well those have left our vehicles especially the black ones covered in swirl marks.:angry So my son has decided that he is going to start detailing the cars on the weekends and possibly start a mobile detailing buisness of his own! We will need all the help we can get hopefully a lot of it from here!:2thumbs:

Well thanks for having me glad to be a member.

What city are you from in NC?

Since your sons new into detailing, he needs to have the proper starting regiment, you can do a search on different chemicals products to use when detailing cars, If your sons like me, I live a rural area with alot of trucks and suvs and a few sport cars here and there :) haha I use the following:

This is only for non-professionals and people new at waxing, cleaning, and detailing in general

Washing: I use a lambs wool washing mit with zip wax

drying: absorber but make sure you clean them everyonce in a while or they will streak or scratch the surface of the paint, you can also use microfiber towels to clean the surface.

For wheel degresser I use purple power, depending on wheels, most factory wheels its okay to use purple power,

Carpet: You can use simple green (in the shade) on heavy soiled areas in the floor board with a stiff brush, then use a vac to suck all the dirt up

Interior: as far as vinyl and leather you can treat them with Armour all or any protectant, later after you son gets better he can do things like clean and treat leather.

Windows: Stoners invisible glass and two blue shop towels one for cleaning the other for removing the residue,

Tires: Stoners more shine is a pretty cheap product to use on tires 4.50 a bottle and last pretty long time

Wax: your son for his first time waxing vehicle needs to start basic and work his way up, use a cleaner wax with a porter cable random orbit polisher and a polishing pad with a backing plate for the porter cable (PC) or the cheaper approach a cleaner paste wax with a applicator pad and do it the old fashion way by hand haha takes a lot of time and a lot of elbow grease. Once he gets good with a porter cable he can do paint corrections like most people do on these forums and it takes skill, and a lot of time.

Just tell him to take hes time and remember to get the details.

I charge 60-70 cars 70-80 trucks and suvs and 80-90 bigger suvs and trucks

Advertise and get business cars a good website is www.vistaprints.com for business cards.

Its best to start small and work your way up just starting a business, you dont want to invest in a extractor vac $600 and end up your not getting enought business.

Now Im pretty new at detailing but looking threw posts and such I have found pretty good ways on doing particular things, I wish the best of luck 2 your son!
