Hi everyone, I've been reading a lot of the posts and it's inspired me to take a crack at detailing my old '97 civic. I'll be posting some pictures of its current condition to get some feedback as to what products to use etc.
1. How did you wind up at Autopia?
I was looking for a detailing shop in MA and found out rickrack and Rydawg had a shop in Burlington. I was simply floored by the work they do as shown in the many threads on here. I haven't gotten around to visiting the shop, but hopefully will soon.
2. What do you like most about detailing?
Haven't really done it yet, but it will probably be the satisfaction of taking a dull car and turning it into a mirror.
3. What are your favorite products/processes and why?
Haven't really done any detailing so I don't know.
4. What's your dream car and why?
Not too sure since there are several I would want. I'll go with a Porsche 911 Turbo for it's classic looks and AWD capabilities.
5. What's the best thing you learned on Autopia?
You can take almost any faded car and turn it into a masterpiece.
6. What are some of your other hobbies and interests?
Video games, watching movies, company softball.
7. Do you have any pets? If so, types, names, pics.
Not yet, but looking at getting a goldendoodle.
8. Name three secret techniques that you think you should share to fellow Autopians.
I may have some after getting some experience.
9. Where are you from and where do you live now?
I'm from NYC and I live in the North Shore of Massachusetts.
10. What was you first car and what got you interested in keeping cars perfect?
I just got my first car last year, a 1997 Honda Civic HX coupe. I never really had a need for one since I lived in a place where the subway was easily accessible. Seeing my neglected car makes me cry inside
11. What motivates you to detail?
Again, seeing my neglected car.
12. Would you ever pay someone else to detail your car?
I did last year, but the shine lasted about a day and then it was slowly back to where it was to begin with. It looked great for that day though as you can see in my avatar. I would definitely consider paying somebody to detail my car though.
13. Does detailing run in the family at all, or are you the only normal one?
Not at all. My family and I used to go to those self wash places and scrub our cars like there was no tomorrow. It was either that or taking it to the automatic washes with the hot wax.
14. What is your favorite part about detailing?
Will let you know once I finish detailing my car.
15. If detailing is a hobby for you, would you like to do it full time, or do you feel that it
would take the fun out of it?
Haven't started yet, so I wouldn't know.
