Newbie first Klasse job (56k beware)

Well I finally got to go over my WRX with Klasse today. I used jimwh's writeup as a guide, along with one from Proper Auto Care.com I don't know if I didn't get enough SG on, but it came off with ease. I was surprised after some of the things I've been reading lately. I used Proper's procedure of spritzing an MF with QD (I used Eagle Wet) I couldn't see a "film" of SG on much of the car when I was done though. Did I use too little? Everything said "less is more" so I took that to heart.

Right now she's parked in my carport. It leaves some drips in the morning sometimes, and it's supposed to rain tonight. Will it be ok to just go over the car with Eagle Wet again tomorrow before doing the second SG coat?

Anyway, here are some shots after 2 rounds with AIO and 1 coat of SG. At least 1 more SG to go, maybe 2. Then on to P21S.

Thanks!

I dressed the tires, just after I took that one shot that shows them. :( They are done in the last shot, but it's not a very nice day here. I use the Maguiers stuff. Is that what others are using?

Nice job Randy :up . Consider giving the WRX another coat of SG 24 hours after the first for added protection. Just make sure there is no dust on the paint for your next coat.

Right now there is some discussion on tire dressing. Look for the thread.

Im a wax guy, always have been. I have to admit though that all the talk about Klasse here got me curious. I tried it and I love it, so slick and it lasts forever. I got back into my routine of S100 weekly on top of my SG and it just wasnt doing it for me anymore ( the dust free part is amazing on S100 though) I spent yesterday starting all over again with some polish, AIO and SG. If you like the first coat of SG wait till coat 2 and 3, each time I use this stuff I ask myself how can the product be so poorly marketed that its unavailable in retail outlets and so unknown by most people.

SG= Truly amazing stuff and in my opinion one of the best bargains in Detailing.

Let us know how much you like that second coat. If its even dusty I always wash first, never had any adhesion issues like you here mentioned here but I have always been wary of appying over any QD not specificaly mentioned by the Klasse Experts. I love that Eagle One QD too

Thanks to all that helped turn me on to this stuff......

Thanks. When I started, the front lip of the hood had scratches going side to side. Looked like I had taken sandpaper to it, almost no gloss at all. What is that? The synthetic wash mit? Possibly dirt in the leather chamois? I've given up both of those tools for a sheepskin and waffle weaves. :)

Edit: Boo, it's raining. Seems like it's too humid to do the next coat. Would it be a problem to still do it today? I have to go out to my parents place today, so it will be out in the rain. I was going to put the second coat on before I leave. Now I'm thinking I should just wait, but I'll be driving it all week and it's not supposed to stop raining till Thursday. At that point, will it still work properly if I just wash the car again and do the second coat (and hopefully the third coat a day later!) Thanks.

When I did my Klasse, I did the first layer of SG then waited several weeks before I found the time to do the second layer. I really beat on my truck offroading with dust and mud and rain and everything inbetween, and it still came out really well. I think you'll have no problem if you just wash the car really well then apply (when you have time).

you can add a coat of SG a week. Just make sure to do like 5 coats before any wax. I have a 02 Black WRX, and that paint is too delicate. If you stare at it too much you can cause swirls. So, after going to the boston auto show, decided to strip my car this weekend and remove the swirls, instead of covering them for the winter. Planing on doing like 5+ coats of SG, and 2-3 AIO. Then more SG. The blue metal perls sure came alive after Megs #26(high tech wax), so you should plan on it in the future.

Thanks guys. I'll see how things go with getting more SG on the car. The temps are dropping here, so it'll depend on the weather if I can wash the car and get it into the garage at work still dry to put another coat on each week. I already got P21S, so I'm going to see how that goes. If I'm not happy with it, I'll keep the #26 in mind.

You can see the pearl pretty good in the second shot. The 04 has a more gold pearl, where the 02/3 has the blue. Before I bought the car, I thought they were all just jet black. :)

I’ve been using ‘Sonus Spritz’as a QD and in between coats of SG resin and ‘Liquid Glass Wash Concentrate’ as both these products contain resins similar to Klasse

Vapor, I think the AIO will remove any SG you put under it. I would AIO x 2 the SG x 5.

He's right...AIO eats everything on the paint for food. You'd lose all your SG and start over again (Hence the reason AIO is a chemcial cleaner and starter polymer-type thing. This has been covered in other threads quite a bit I think. AIO over anything except paint prep = :nono

Back to tire dressing Randy98...

did you use that Maguiar's that smells like grapes? I LOVE that stuff. Lasts a long time and isn't too glossy and "wet" looking. Just shiny and black! And that grape smell follows you a couple of days.

Good lookin WRX! ;)

I've had mine for 2 years now and people are still figuring out it isn't "really" black.

Personally, I thought that the P21S topper actually took something away from the Klasse shine on my WRX, so I just stick with the SG and Sonus after washes.

(Question... Did you remove the "Subaru" emblem from the rear or do the '04 wagons not have that? What about the key hole?)
