Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, but looking forward to learning more about detailing. I just bought a new car, and can't wait to go to work on it! It's an 07 BMW 335i coupe. Space Gray/black leather interior.

Any advice on how to detail a new car??

Welcome to the addiction, and congrats on the supurb ride!

What are your goals for detailing?

Thanks! I'm looking for a deeper, warm yet wet look. I'm also very interested in managing my wheels because the BMW brake pads let off a huge amount of brake dust! This leads to small black pit marks which become very difficult to get out of the wheel. What's the best product/process to help this situation?

Here's a pic of my car:

Go ahead and read around on the forums. You'll gain more knowledge by reading and researching, but beware: you'll be buying so much car cleaning stuff and you'll never want to stop!

Your color is very similar to my 05 TL, and I use Zaino on my ride. Everyone has different opinions and products to use on their rides. There's so many out the counter stuff like Duragloss, Meguairs, but usually the high end stuff are found on the internet.

As for the wheels, I have front Brembos on my wheels, and I constantly clean them at least every onther day, by using a Micro Fiber towel and a quick detailer like Meguairs NXT for added gloss and protection. I would SEAL or WAX your wheels ASAP, to reduce the amount of brake dust, so when you wash, it will be a lot easier for them to clean.

\r\n \r\nFor the wheels, I think I\'ll try Poorboys Wheel Sealant. Maybe Klasse AIO them first, and then the wheel sealant? \r\n\r\nAs for the Zaino, I\'ve read that it works better on darker colored cars. Would my car be considered dark?\r\n\r\nI\'d like to try Jeffs Werkstatt , but the AJT seems to be out of stock on the website. Anyone have any leads on getting my hands on this product?'

Welcome to the forum. I have a TiAg 06 330i. Among the products I have used, I would recommend Duragloss 105 and Aquawax for the paint. Make sure you seal the wheels (105 would do) and wash them at least weekly with regular car soap (the DG soap is great). I have been doing this for 2 years and the BMW wheels still look new with no pitting (I bought the car summer of 05). I would also recommend you clay the car first.

Read around the site for more details. There are so many good products out there that it can get confusing. In the long run you will find the ones you like.

Given the color of your paint, and the age of your car, I do not think you would need serious swirl removal so perhaps clay, followed by a decent AIO will bring your paint up to where it should be.

IMO, all new cars need claying, unless it rolls off the assembly line into my diveway, I will still clay a new car. After you clay you could try something like poli-seal topped with collinite 845 or 915.

The collinites, for me, last as long as an average sealant and bead like crazy.

For wheels, since you are just an enthusiast and not doing this to a lot of cars, I think you should try p21s gel if regular car soap is not cutting it. But once you have your wheels sealed (try klasse aio + sealant glaze) you should only need car soap to emove brake dust.

Thanks for the advice so far guys. I was thinking about using Poorboys Wheel sealant as I've heard many good things about it.

I do have some products sitting around...let m eknow what you think..

1) wash (Meguiars NXT wash)

2) clay (mothers w/QD)

3) wash again

4) Klasse AIO w/PC polishing pad (or finishing pad?)

5) 4*UPP sealtant by hand (12 hours to cure)

6) P21S Wax by hand.

What do you think?

I'd like to try the Jeff Werkstatt products, but they seem to be out of Acrylic Jet Trigger?? Any ideas on how to get a hold of this?

First, welcome to the club! For the wheels, definitely get some wax or sealant on there. Once you have a layer of protection, the brake dust will come right off with a swipe of the finger. You won't need any wheel cleaning chemicals after that, except for car wash shampoo.

Welcome! Love that car! You know what's the easiest way to do it. Just give me the car and I'll take care of it for ya ;) Don't worry I'll drive the car like it'll be driven! haha

Sounds good but the KAIO will not really do anything for light swirls, it is a good chemical cleaner with no abrasives and a little bit of protection. Poli-Seal (my suggestion from my other post) has very light abrasives, which will help you out with light swirling (pretty much every dealer washes the car and puts swirls in it).
