Hey guys, my PC7424 craped out on me a couple of months right after purchasing it. I end up ordering a Flex3401 from chemical guys, after price matching i couldnt beat there kit with pads for $299. Anyways, Im just looking for some tips or anything I should watch out for as I have been told in the wrongs hands with this machine you can F*** up paint just as bad as with a traditional rotary polisher. any info/tips are apreciated

I don't think the Flex is as dangerous as a rotary. The main thing for me is that it requires a little more attention because it does "pull" in a way the PC doesn't (you can't 1-hand it). Use two hands, keep your pace consistent and you should be fine.

Since it's more aggressive, it *is* easier to have an "oops!", so don't get careless. I use rotary techniques with regard to how I move it (keep it moving, don't let the end of each stroke result in double-time on that area).

Don't put a lot of pressure on it when the pad is tilted; don't get the backing plate rubbing on the machine's housing.

Take off the plate and lube the felt ring with some oil (3-in-one oughta work fine) and make sure the plate's mounting bolt is nice and snug (don't overdo it though).

Feel the paint from time to time to make sure things aren't getting hotter than you think they are.
