Just purchased a GG6 and since the outdoor temps are in the low 20's, I have not much to do other than learning how to use this new toy effectively. It seems as if the recommended backing plates are the 5 and 3 inch sizes. Do you need to change anything on the stock machine, such as changing the counterweights in order for successful operation? I have found two 5 inch backing plates which receive high reviews, but unable to find any recommended 3 inch BP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

welcome to AF. i have the gg 6 and 3 and like them both. the gg 6 has enough power to drive a 61/2" pad with no problems (great for larger vehicles, trucks, rvs, etc.) and will drive 5.5" pads even better. no need to change counter balancers etc. and the standard da backing plates can be easily switched out in minutes.
