*new Waterless Wash*

okay so i was playing around with some stuff..........one thing led to another and think i made my own waterless wash (identical to the poorboys stuff).....i tried it on my car and got excellent results........and its SUPER CHEAP
the two main ingredients are water and hair conditioner (actually these are the only ingredients)........i guess depending on the hair conditioner the dilution ratio may vary ....... i personally used a 15:1 (water to conditioner) ratio with suave brand hair conditioner..............you might be laughing but it works
one 2 or 3 dollar bottle can make over 300 oz of waterless wash
and if you get pear scented conditioner its JUST like the poorboys stuff
i have a gallon of the poorboys stuff and its vary similar to the stuff i made
try it and tell me what you guys think( i tried it in a corner on my car to test, you might want to do the same thing)

did you check what it was made out of to see if they are the same? I'm not sure if they are identical, since my guess is that poorboys does't make it out of hair products. I wouldn't try it on my truck.

how in the world did you have the idea to do this? FWIW unless I havnt gotten the memo, poorboys doesnt have a waterless wash, unless your talking about Spray and Wipe? Still sounds crazy to me..

Uhhh how did you figure this one out? I don't see any way how conditioner will be able to lift dirt off of paint and remove it without any micromarring. I think that you are way off with saying that it is identical to S&W. Let's get some pictures up to see how good it works. Not pictures of how it cleans dirt but pictures that show the induced marring. Plus you run the risk of removing the previous LSP too.

on a side note my car is black.....and no micro marring.......so if it works on a black car it will work on any car.......and it leaves the surface super smooth and glossy

How in the hell did you dream this on up. can you compare the slickness to anything? What about leaving resindue from the conditioner behind,
this seems like it would be a dust magnet.

Steve you better call the chemist ,your secret is out

I would be worried about marring and removing the LSP as well. Also I would think it would leave a residue. Try pouring conditioner on your counter and wiping it off. Is it hard to get off? Probably. Even when you get it wet, it still won't just wipe away.

I hope that you consider doinga side by side test of your product to the one that you mentioned. It would be nice to see some kind of write up as to how your test was conducted(I am assuming that you will do a test).

I will be in the wings waiting for your first long term study on a side by side comparison. I will be reading the forum everyday after I get done using my S&W on my Black truck just before I retire for the evening to my room.

This reminds me of when some guy on the S2000 owner's website started a thread stating that everyone should use old engine oil as tire dressing. He stated it was a tip from "the pros."

Well, I never put used oil on my tires and something tells me that my car will not have silky smooth hair either. :D

hahahaha......this does sound like the old motor oil in tires idea
i will have to post comparison pictures of the poorboys and my hair conditioner product

I have thought about using hair shampoo or conditioner in a custom blend
My dream is to formulate some QD and other car care products from natural ingredients - say fruit extracts

Thats' what I use, but only the synthetic, helps the tires run better.:D

I seriously doubt the two product's chemistrys (hair conditioner/waterless wash) being compared here would be even remotely similar. A waterless wash needs to suspend dirt and contaminants in a solvent that will allow it to clean the surface and not leave trace residues behind. Hair conditioner will leave a waxy coating behind and it is not designed to do any cleaning at all.

Maybe he needs to add some shampoo or body wash to his mix then. :lmfao

As silly as it sounds, I'd like to hear him out on this. At a 15:1 ratio it may be thin enough not to leave a waxy film, but enough to lubricate the surface and loosen up the dirt, etc, without marring the surface.

Here is a quote from the AG site on their DP waterless wash... Note that it's touting the lubricants ability to grip the dirt, similiar to how the hair conditioner might be able to work. It doesn't mention anything about cleaning solvents or anything other than lubricants and 'specialized polymers', and since it is also used as a QD, I'd assume it is not depending on any cleaners or solvents to loosen/remove/zap the dirt.

"This is not your average quick & easy wash! DP Four-In-One is packed with lubricants that wrap around dirt and grit to elevate it just above the paint surface. Specialized polymers grab dirt and trap it within the slippery solution of lubricants and water...."

My thoughts exactly. It sounds interesting enough to warrant seeing pictures of it in use. I don't exactly believe that it's identical to S&W, but just because he isn't throwing a lot of tecno-babble jargon around (i.e. emulsifying agents, etc.) doesn't mean that it might not work.

remember guys iam using like 15:1 or 20:1 ration of water to conditioner.....the texture between the poorboys spray and wash waterless cleaner and my stuff are identical it basically feels like soft water......
heres how "MY" stuff works......the conditioner softens the water, by spraying the softened water onto the body of the car it also softens the dirt, by softening the dirt the dirt particles release and come loose from the body of the car, since the dirt particles are soft and broken down no marring or light scratching occurs when wiping the body of your car, and because the product is about 95% water it evaporates quickly and leaves no residue
.....if you use my conditioner product or the poorboys stuff, you may run into problems IF......the surface of the car is to hot and the product instantly bakes and spots into your paint.....IF the car is to dirty, yes marring will occur, and your car will look like a mess......i really like using my product to remove light water spots from rain, bird dropings, bugs, clean up light residue after washing the car, and a final clean after washing the car and before the wax and buffer.....
i would show you pictures, but you cant tell the difference between the stuff i made and the poorboys
