Tried out my UDM for the first time this weekend. 6 1/2" white pad with ZPC. Results were Ok, but I think I need more cut. If I go with a 4" orange pad with ZPC would it be LSP ready or would I need to finish it down with a gray pad with Z-AIO, first?

just buffed my car with my PC and ZPC two weeks ago. After ZPC I went with Red Machine Glaze and then on to Carnuba Moose Wax, though I am switching back to all Zaino products in the near future. With the above combo on my black Mustang GT I took class champion at the Fun Ford Weekend on Sat. But when sticking with Zaino I think I am going to try the Danase Wet Glaze prior to the Z-5. Just a thought though.

It depends on a couple factors, most importantly, how hard is the paint. Harder paint, i.e. VW is more likely to finish LSP ready with an orange pad. Softer paint, i.e Honda, might be harder to pull off as it is more sensitive to micromarring that could be induced by the pad.

The best way to find out is to try it! Work the polish as long as possible (to be sure the abrasives are fully broken down) and reduce your pressure on the pad and speak of the buffer near the end to bring the gloss up better and see how it comes out.

You can always finish up with a white or black pad to be absolutely sure any micromarring is gone and see if it gives you any better gloss. You gotta test it out! Also, if you have still can't correct with ZPC/orange you will likely need to step up to a heavier polish or compound as ZPC is pretty mild.
