finished products. Note Escalade was done 4 months ago and only received occasional Z2-PRO enhancement but Z8 after every wash.

Hm....I see the C5...the Escalade...an old (1960-ish) black Chevy sedan under the carport, and the tailight of some other black car..but no black Z28 convertible!

Your vehicles look very well kept. the pictures show a defect free paint. The Escalade is shining even as it was not the focus of the picture. I also like the engine compartment of the C5. Quite the attention to detail.

Sold the Black Z28 to a friend that collects Chevys. :(

With four 60's classics, C5 and Escalade I ran out of room. :( I was not driving the Z28, about 200 miles the last 3 years and it was not going to become a collectible anytime soon.

Rare editions of Z28 (triple black convertible with every option was not going anywhere soon pricewise) and standard Z28 LT1 models have reach very low $$ values ($6-$8000).

The black Chevy is a 1964 Impala SS 327 2 door coupe. Orignal sticker is still in place on rear side glass. This is not my vehicle but the friend that purchased the Z28. :(

When as delivered price is posted as $3900. :shocked

Thanks Cwcad. My hobby is detailing and since joining Autopia and other fine detailing forums I have learned the finer points and importance of the "little details" that produce big differences ( i.e. prep).

Like many projects in life, if you stay up with things and challenge yourself to all the details, the job becomes much easier.

It does hurt paint maintenence when the C5 does not see bad weather and previous owner used the same protocol on when to drive. I would to get some shots of the undercarriage, like new but vehicle is too darn low.

Having the right tools and an excellent resource for info (Autopia) is a difficult combo to beat.

Good Virginia Tech!!!!

Hmm...too bad about the Z28. So what are your four 60's classics? And I find two things unbelievable about that '64 Impala...one that it still has the window sticker, and holy crap, $3900 in 1964?? IIRC, I guy I used to know that bought a '66 GTO new that stickered at less than that. How many miles are on it?

Red 67 chevelle SS 396 Convertible (white interior)

Red 67 Chevy II Nova SS 327

Black 67 Camaro Z28

Metallic dark green 69 Z28 with 502 crate big block. This is not really a classic in present form.

The 64 Impala has 19,340 miles.

Yes, I was sad to get rid of the Z28 but it went to a very nice home and will probably never driven again except to turn the engine over and move tires. This guy is worst than me about driving collection / non-daily driver vehicles.

Whoa!

Looks excellent...now you need to change your user name!

Which speed did you find Z-PC worked best on the rotary with?

Thanks GSR. :bow Again much appreciated coming from a detailing guru and teacher like yourself. :bow

I usually start about ~1000 - 1200 rpm and progress up as Z-PC diminishes to about 2000 rpm.

The name will stay the same in memory of the vehicle I practiced elite detailing that I learned about here at Autopia. For 30 odd years I thought I knew what detailing consisted of. After arriving here I discovered a whole new plateau of vehicle appearance care, products and maintenence. :waxing:

Same here!!!

Edwin, She looks super clean!! Great work! that paint looks flawless. :xyxthumbs

What is the color of your C5? I've been a fan of the orange colors lately. I liked the WS6 Trans Am sunset orange or something like that??

I know what you mean about your camaro, I had an IROC. Sold her for the GN.

I'll one day own a corvette myself!

Good luck with her!

Thanks Intercooled.

She is Torch Red. I hate that the pixs makes it look like orange, though a nice and rare color.

Maybe now that I know how to post pixs, I will read the How-to thread on auto photography. :D

I must also thank Sal for his excellent product line and tips over the years about the importances of Prep.

Again thanks to you guys at Autopia for also giving me the nerve to advance from a Sear's buffer to a PC and now the rotary for that once or twice a year super prep. :bow

Awsome work on both, Edwin! The paint on the Vette looks very wet! Not only that but it looks absolutely flawless in the sun. Obviously a lot of effort went into the prep.

What kind of time did you put into the polishing?

Thanks again Scott. Much appreciated coming from some who is also a guru and a person I has learned many detailing skills from. :bow

I spent approximately a week working a couple of hours a day in the evening. As the project progress each panel took less and less time. I believe now, if I put my mind to it that and work straight thru that this vehicle (C5) can be polished out and initial 3 coats of Zaino applied in 4-5 hours.

Fortunately, it rained for about 4 of these days so I did not miss any driving time. ;)

Looks great!!!

I'm doing a black C5 this week and was wondering if time permits if I should do a few coats of Z5 w/ ZFX, then 3x Z2 pro w/ ZFX the next day. This is after polishing with Menzerna IP/FPII and a PC.

:thx :bow

It all depends on the condition of the finish after the IP and FP. After years of refining the paint on the black Z28 I would only apply 1 coat of Z5 after polishing and 2 coats of Z2PRO/ZFX.

If you are going to have the C5 for 2 days, go the full monty and do a 3 and 3. :cooleek:

Thanks!

I'll have it late today till thursday or friday. But I'm still a rookie with the PC so that still takes me a while. Time will tell.
