:sosad :sosad I'm sure you've heard this a hundred times before, But I have a very basic question to start. I have a 02 Ford Escape with metalic Blue Paint. I use the Mequires cleaner on it and the #16. While it gives a good shine and adds some depth to the paint, I can't seem to get the metalic specks to show as it should.

I welcome any suggestions and or ideas you may have. Am I using the wrong type of Wax for the final stage?

Welcome and you've come to the right place to get the answers you need. I think the first thing we need to know is what type of damage, if any, is there to the paint? Swirls, oxidation, etc...

Could be as simple as putting another layer or two on, or you could need to polish. If you don't have one already, look into getting a Porter Cable (PC). That will help you with the work and time needed to work on your car.

MyTime- Welcome to Autopia! I'd guess that you need to somehow improve your prep stages (the cleaning/polishing stuff), as Meg's #16 usually works great over metallics like yours.

Whenever you're dissatisfied with the final result, the problem is usually *not* the choice of final product, and I think that's the case here.

If it's a couple years old it may like everyone says need a good polish. My wife has a dark metalic blue 03' Highlander and before I had my PC I went over it by hand a couple weeks ago with 1Z PP and MP and the results were amazing.Even before I used a LSP (last step product) the shine it had seemed better than when it was new.

Thanks for the response!

Well, the car/SUV is well cared for with minimal paint damage..if any at all. I'm and an advid waxer, although I've really not really paid attention before to what I've put on:nono I had it detailed in October of 03, done professionally with the clay and zymol wax and it looked good. One problem is I can't find the Zymol in the stores, other is I'm wondering if there is anything that you well knowleged poeple would recommend that might be better..?

I used Meguiars clear coat body scrub and the Meg #16 as the wax..Anby Ideas..?

Well assuming that the detailer polished it I would try P21S which you could get online and the same product is also labelled as S100 at Harley Davidson stores where it's cheaper.

Assuming the car's been thru a winter since it was detailed it wouldn't hurt to clay again yourself. If you liked Zymol I'm pretty sure you will be impressed with P21S although I'm pretty suprised you don't like #16 especially compared to Zymol which I wasn't crazy about when I used it.
