Finally...my factory aero 996 arrives after a 40 day wait...I won't even get started on the shipping delays.

On the truck

So I sign all of the paperwork and come out...my wife is already strapped in and pulling out of the drive...soo much for getting the first drive.

OK...Down to business. Even though it rained on and off all day the car really needed some TLC. The previous owner used it as his daily driver and the car was as could be expected...actually i was thinking it might be a bit worse if anything.

Process:

Wash

Clay (about 2 hours worth due to LOTS of contaminants)

SSR3 via Rotary and orange cutting pad @ 1500rpm

Menzerna IP and white polishing pad on PC @ speed 6

Menzerna PO85RD and white pad on PC @ speed 5

Zaino Z2 (x2)

Pinnacle Soveran will be applied today when I get home after giving the Zaino some time to cure.

Before Hood.

Front Fender was my test pannel. As you can see the fender has been polished with all 3 steps and the door is untouched.

Afters. - no protection yet just polished.

And a couple in it's new home. (I really need to paint the walls!!!)

You have my audi your garage! That red looks awsome. if thats all it takes to be able to get that ride in your garage id say dont worry about not getting the first ride. Nice cars!

That is awesome!

SSR3 with a rotary though :shocked That must have been a lot worse than the pics show considering how soft porsche paint is. Great job on an awesome car :bow

Nice ride! Thankfully the semi did not go over 88 miles and hour or your car might not of arrived on time!

Holy hot hell Andy!

That garage is an utter inspiration.

I could tell from the pictures you sent the paint wasn't in spectacular condition, but now, just wow...it looks perfect!

I can't imagine what plans you have for her, but please keep us posted and best of luck to you!!!

Eric: Yeah...it was rough...I don't konw the best way to describe it. The car was a daily driver, sat outside all day every day (inside at night) and saw track time. It was waxed regulaly but really needed some refreshing to come back. I probably could have use IP via the rotary but I was in the mood to get the car done and enjoy it...luck would have it that it started to really rain just as I finished for the night so it stayed in anyhow.

Sean: thanks for the compliments man...you're well on your way!

Andy

I have to get me a Porsche so I can get a wife as pretty as yours!

Seriously good looking car and incredible work on the paint! :bow

What year is your car? I detailed one a few months back (and will be detailing it again on Saturday) with a similar wing.

Thanks for all of the compliments guys.

awahl63: It's a '99 B5 A4 1.8T...my first nice car. Never going to sell that thing. In it's 140K miles I have not a single complaint about that car.

Scott: It's a '99. Porsche offered that body package from 99-01 which is a clone to the GT3 which was not imported those years into the US.

Congrats on your...or should I say your wife's new ride. :D You should know NEVER to post a pic of your better half on a male dominated automotive messageboard!!!! A beautiful woman who loves cars.....lucky you. Take care,

intercitylines... I used them when I bought my ZR-1, class act all around!

Were you happy with them?
