New tire question

I'm replacing my tires next week with Pirelli Scorpians. Being they will be virgin tires with no road grime I thought this would be a good time to treat them with 301 protectant. However I read that there is a mold release that takes at least 500 miles to wear away. Could I apply now before mounting or should I wait until after the 500 miles?? Thanks!

It certainly won't hurt anything to apply it now (possible it won't really penetrate due to the mold release, but the mold release is also some sort of silicone waxy stuff, usually). Just buff off the excess so the installer doesn't get peeved at the tires slipping out of his hands...

Have you already bought the Scorpions? There are much better performance truck tires available that will wear much better than the Scorpions. I have had real good luck with the Toyo Proxes ST's and currently running Sumitomo truck performance tires with very good mileage and ride quality pn my Lincoln Navigator. Just something to consider. As for dressing a new tire, it won't be any problem. By the time you buy the tires chances are that they've been in a warehouse for awhile.
