New Sti for the US

Based on what Car And Driver said about the two I would say thay both have their strong points. The Evo is 4/10ths of a second slower in the 1/4 mile. The STi is about $1500 bucks more in cost. The Evo has a higher top speed. The Evo ranked higher in comfort and space. Basicly if you want a quick car then the STi is a pretty good choice. The Evo is quick but not as quick. It has other pluses that may ballance it out though. I think they are about as equal as you can get. Personally, I would get the Scoobie because I am a die hard subaru fan. Those cars never die. Gotta love that. Mitsubishi lost major points with me when they put those clear tail lights on the back. Those just don't belong on any car anymore. Enough aftermarket compaines make them that if some rich kid wants to have daddy buy them an Evo then they can rice it out themselves. It doesn't need to come from the factory that way.

The only reason I got my WRX was because that was the closest thing to me having a rally icon (Mitsu-EVO vs Subaru-WRX Sti)...I was about to pick up a 2.5rs back in '99 but rumor had it that the WRX was was gonna be coming to the US...So i waited...finally, rumor became reality and got on the 1st allocation waiting list in Jan '01 and received my car in Mar '01...few months later, the EVO was rumored to be coming to the US, and is now finally here...that was the car that I've always wanted since '97 (EVO IV)...

the two cars are pretty much equal IMHO, but the only thing that i'm weary of is the STi's new engine, where as the EVO has been using the same tried and true 4G63 engine for the past 9 years...
