New Shop Vac & Friday Night Clean Up

My Shop Vac Pro died last weekend after chocking down about 10lbs. of dog hair & filth, while detailing a 2000 300M. I was a bit disappointed to see it poop out after 2 short years of service. I decided to buy something with a little more power. I landed on the Sears Clean and Carry 5gal wet/dry/blow unit. It has 5HP/8.5amps -which is some decent power. Here she is in her new home:

Next up, it was time for the weekly STS wash:

-Z7/Foam Gun on the paint.
-Z7 mix on the rims
-Blow dry & WW using Z8
-Z2Pro by hand, let stand for 15min, then topped (before wiping off) with Z2Pro/Z8mix via finishing pad using the PC at 4.
-Final wipe down using a Dragon Fibre MF & Z8.
-Z16 on the tires. The wells will get dressed on Saturday :)
Total Time: 90 Min.

Here are a few afters:

-Have a good weekend everyone!

Thanks guys.

Now, I'm kind of glad that my old wet/dry vac died! The new model has more power, and I like the fact that I can blow dust/debris out of the garage with it. About the only thing that I don't like as well is the hose diameter is 1 7/8", and my shop vac pro had a 1" hose, which was easier to roll up, and the attachment would fit into tight nooks a little easier.

Greg: You have to belong to the Zaino cult to get a shine like that JK LOL.

Thanks for the compliment. I've been experimenting on silver with Z2/Z5/Z6/Z8.

Do you ever use the blow function to dry your car? I have always been afraid I would somehow blow small particles or even a small stone if I tried to blow dry my car. Any experience or warnings for me?

I have a Ridgid 16-Gallon 6.25 hp Pro Utility Vac, about 7 years old. I get the filter from Sears. Craftsman’s filter are a lot cheaper the Home Depot!

Awesome pics!

Thanks for the tip on filters! That's good to know.

The vac has a filter on the blower, but I don't plan to use it to dry the car. That would be too big of a hassle (electric cord, lugging around the vac, etc..)

I use a leaf blower for drying, and have never had any issues with dirt kicking back on the paint. I make sure that the surface area surrounding the car is wet/damp, before drying.
