New Ride...soon

I have been wanting to get a new car for the past month or so since I sold my jetski and don't live where it snows anymore so I have no use for my F-150 anymore. I want a Mustang GT. I am going to look at a 2003 Mustang Mach 1 with 9500 miles on it tomorrow. The guy is asking $21,800 but I'm going to try to talk the price down. The guy is also going to look over my truck because his son wants a F-150. I sent him pics and such already, his son likes it a lot and the guy offered me $10,500 already without even looking at it, which is more than I would get for a trade in and a little more than the KBB for a private party sale...we will see what he says tomorrow. On the other hand, my parents would rather see me get a brand new car because its brand new and has a warranty with it. Today we stopped by a Ford dealer and checked out the 06 Mustang GT's. Saw one I liked but didn't have leather interior, in which I want. That was for just over $26,000 I believe. I told my dad that if I got a new Mustang, I would want to order it so I get exactly what I want and I would get to see it come off the car carrier and go directly to me without being "detailed" by the people that work there. I built and priced one for just under $27,000 at invoice. I could do away with a few of the options I picked but I'm wondering if a dealer would sell one at invoice. I love the Mach because its rare, looks bada$$ and I like the 99-04 body style. I would also like to have a new one because it is BRAND NEW and has a warranty, and I could get it exactly the way I want it. If I put $10,500 down on a $27,000 car, I'm thinking that I could get the payments kinda low either with my credit (which is good) or my parents. My parents want it in their name so I can stay on their insurance a little longer till I turn 25 like they did for my brother. I guess I just need to go to the dealer and try to wheel and deal to see how low they would let one go for. Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks

Yeah, suggestion: If you can get a new one then go for it. To save $5000. on a car that's three years old is just not worth it IMO. Good Luck with your decision.............Tom

I suggest for $5,000 difference go with a new. Before you go into the dealer do your homework, visit a few dealers during the day and see what the'll offer you price wise. Then when you have all the bullets you need walk into a dealer about 45 minutes before closing with every intention to buy, at this point the'll offer almost anything if you agrre to purchase the car that night you'll know if the deal is good or not because you've done your homework. if you have the best deal get everything in writing that was promised. I did this when buying my daughter car actually it happen buy accident.when we went back to the same dealership to buy the next day the manager during the day wasn't gonna keep the dealership end of the bargain,But they had no choice because i got the best deal i could the night before in writing.

you should pay about 19 for the used one 21 is the price maybe a used car dealer would try to sell it for
but then again if he offered to buy your truck for more than private party value, he might expect you to do the same thing

I was at Ford dealer last week looking at a SUV for my mother, she didn't really care for any of them...but I stopped and looked at the Mustang GTs and they are sweet..they also had 3 Saleen's but I almost fell over when i saw the 56K sticker on them  I really liked the red GT they had but only if i was 20 years younger:(

I like the new GT's and everything but I'm not willing to spend almost $30K for a new car right now. Id rather only borrow $10K from my parents and hope to pay that off within 2 years if everything goes smoothly. By that time, I should have less than 40K miles on it so I can store it and get something brand new as a daily driver. I looked at the 2003 Mach 1 over the weekend...its SWEET. It has been taken care of very well, only a few places on the front from rocks but thats minor. It had 9700 miles on it that day. Now I'm trying to figure out if he's going to be able to come through with getting the title from the bank since its not paid off. My parents want title in hand the day we buy it. So he's going to have to pay it off in order for there to be a deal. They definitely want to buy my truck from me but they are not going to get it unless I can buy the Mach.
