I used my new pc with the Mequires 9006 finishing pad to apply collinite 845 to my Excursion. The truck is Toredor red. Went on easy and came off easy, I used 4.5 -5 speed.Truck looks good except i took it to get fuel; under the station lights there are a lot of swirls or spiderwebs. Looks like circles. I hand polished this truck not to long ago and had a good coat of 26 on it, but i wanted to put the 845 on for the winter since it willl sit outdoors. I washed it good right before I put on the wax and dind't feel any contaminants on it. Question I have is there a softer, better pad? I had the pad wet with wax the whole time i was using it. I had not noticed this many swirls in it before.Kinda afraid to let this thing loose on my vette now. It looks to me like buffer swirls. I didn't think the PC would put in swirls as long as the pad was wet with wax and the paint was clean. :think: I wiped the wax off the truck by hand with a microfiber.Don't think this is from removal these a small 5" diameter swirls.

I'd say that the swirls were there prior to polishing it, you just didn't see them. m2c
Could of been, but ive owned this truck since new 2000 and am pretty anal about keeping the paint up I'm always looking down the sides for scratches and swirls and i know that there was some lite swirls, but looks like they doubled since I applied the collinite. Looks like tight spiderwebs, I just never noticed them this bad.

Sometimes you need that perfect lighting and the right angles to see those swirls . It's possible that the product's you used in the past were covering up those swirls. Like Tdekany suggested , they were there long before today. :buffing: Sounds like you have more work to do 
I was planning on getting some 83 & 80 but is there something better that will pull the spiderwebs out with a pc. Would the 3m products be a better choice. I just bought the pc and the megs pads , i have the dc 1 cleaner and Dc2 plish but from what i understand the dc 1 is pretty mild and probably wouldn't touch those. Any recomends, There seem to be a ton of products out there. I was a little worried the megs pads i bought might have been the culprit. i only used the 9006. I hear that the pad needs to be dedicated to the product but can you switch products if you wash the pads first ?

The DC#1 and DC#2 are nonabrasive, they won't remove any of the marring. The #83/#80 is popular with Meg's users. I prefer the old 3m PI-III RC (05933) and MG(05937) but they're getting hard to find. The #80 is a good final polish for most people though. It removes *and* hides.

Keep in mind #83 & #80 contains some oils that hide swirls if not worked correctly . It's always best to check your progress under lighting and do a wipe with 50% water , 50% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle to remove those oils .

I use 2x 500W halogen lamps to find tiny swirls... seems to work fairly well
