"new" Pc 7336

Went into the city to buy a 7336 today. Decided to hang on ($254 canadian is SO overpriced). However, the styling of the 7336 isn't what I remember and see pictures of. Instead of the one handle grip that you grab on to, it had a grip that went around almost half of the unit. Also, the speed selector wasn't on the back of the unit, it was on top (yay). THe power selected wasn't one that you pushed up/down to select the power but one you push in/out. I checked out the PC homepage and it still has the "old style" 7336.

What gives?

Ah, just found out!

The store had the 7428 mislabelled as the 7336. I was so happy too because it looked much nicer than the 7336. *sigh*

That picture looks like a rotary.

Lucky it's just the wrong pic. Yup, $254 is way overpriced. Several of us got them when Cdn Tire was selling for $179. I think even regular price there was only $229. But that was for the 7424, so maybe the 7336 is a bit more money? :nixweiss

Not sure, but I just ordered the 7336 from Summit Tools for $199. I really don't want to wait, I don't even have the pads yet, but I want to do SOMETHING over my holidays. I'm just gonna try the PC polishing pad, see how that works.... just practicing on my 'rents car anyways :)

$199 is not a bad price. I think that's where my bro' got his a few years ago, too. You're going to be hooked on it once you've tried it. :)

Yup. 7428 you don't want, that's a rotary... lots more difficult to master with much higher risk factors.

So there is no "new" 7336.

2wheels:

Canadian Tire had the PC? I've been all over the city (Van) for the last two months looking for the 7424... know where i can get it? I'm probably looking in the wrong places...

Canadian Tire does have the PC7424..try the coquitlam Canadian tire or the North Van one...it won't be where the cheap polishers are, they are usually in glass cases. They also have the 7428.

The definitive answer to finding a PC7424 at Canadian Tire (at least in Vancouver):

Not going to happen.

Thanks for the tips guys, but i've been to several of the stores mentioned and otherwise and i've called to find out which locations would have it, and it's a no go.

(I don't doubt you've seen them in the past but they don't have them anymore).

Here's why:

It's discontinued. Whatever stock they have i'm sure they sold out because the discontinued sale price for it was $49.95!!!!!!!:shocked

crap... wish i found one earlier!! :(

As it is, i've got a couple of the customer service people trying to track one down for me, just in case...

If you're lucky and do find one at Canadian Tire, buy it! Hell, buy them ALL and sell me one... :D

Thanks neways guys, looks like i'll have to get the 7336 for $180 instead.

$50?? Sorry, but I seriously doubt that! They'd never sell it for that price because they'd just be cutting their throats.

I really suggest the 7336 model anyway.... unless you really love that foam pad that comes with the 7424. :D

Yup... $50!! I know, i was shocked too... It's their discontinued model price... of course this would be assuming they had any in stock left.

I was told the unit was on sale for $120... then went to $50 to get rid of the last of the stock... can't imagine why it sold out so fast!!

the product number for the PC 6" ROB was #547182.

(I'm assuming this was the 7424, but i could be wrong).

I have the DeWalt rotary and I hardly ever use it. I find the hardest part of a rotary is to polish any part of the car thats not perfectly flat without putting holograms in the paint.

I even have the pad skimming across the paint, very aggrivating.
