New Optimum Polishes - thoughts???

These havent made it to the UK yet, but hopefully will soon...

I know they have been around a little while but after the initial buzz I really havent seen them written about much recently. I have used the Menz range, 3M a little and the original Megs stuff (#83/80). My favourites are MarkV Mystique and Uno, and the Optimum polishes seem more like these - longer work time and cut that is pad dependent. I like polishes that are 'oily' and well lube'd, to flatter my less than perfect technique :lol

Can anyone give me a little more info on how the OCII, OPII & FP might compare to the other ranges, and how they are better than the original OC & OP?

thanks

I'm kinda hoping you'll get a bunch of responses to this, Bigpikle. Meguairs has kinda stolen the thunder away from Menz's and Optimum's new offerings.

OP II has more cut than the original and you don't have to work it as long. OC II Has more cut as well but #105 is noticably more aggressive. Finish is an excellent final polish. Insane gloss and depth. Takes a little work to remove, but not nearly as bad as Meguiars #7 can be. Two towel removal makes it easier.

Thanks, Scott!

Darnit, I thought I was done buying products for a while.

Edit: Exceldetail.com has 8 oz sizes of Optimum Compound II, Optimum Finish Polish, and Optimum Polish II in stock.

Scott, in your experience, how does Optimum Finish Polish compare to UF as far as cut and gloss?

OP II DEFINITELY has a long work time - I used it for the first time yesterday and I can't even get my pads clean (all day in a bucket of simple green and I'm still squeezing white residue/oils out of my lake country white pad).

Smells nice (not that I care) and leaves a great finish - to me it's under rated

Have not used optimum finish polish but based on how easy OP II is to use, it's on my to do list.

I used to use 3M polishes and compounds and some Megs but now for auto detailing I only use Optimum polishes and compounds because of their work time, little to no dusting (this is why I dont use 3M compounds now on detail work, only body shop) and it can be used in the sun as well. 3M's Ultrafina will always be one of my favorite final polishes/swirl removers. I use 3M products for body/paint work in the body shop but for my detailing I use the Optimum because of the low dusting and I am able to touch things up in the sun with no problem. Like Yvan said, get a Lake Country Pad Washer 2000 to keep your pads clean throughout the detail and it will make them last longer.

thanks Scott- very helpful info.

Thanks all for your other comments and advice - I hope somebody gets some of this in the UK sometime soon!
