hi guys, this is my first post! I have a perviously owned ford explorer sport. I try to take the best possible care of my car as i can (although im sure im destroying it compared to some of your standards:) ) Anyways what recomendations do you guys have for removing small scratch/ paint imperfections in my side pannels. I dont think im experienced enough to use a buffing machine, and ive waxed quite a bit. Also, whats the best product to use to remove swirl marks., Thanks for all your help guys (sorry if you get this question all the time)

I would do a search for "swirls" This is going to yield enough results to last you for a lifetime. To really remove swirls, you are going to need a machine. Do a search for "PC" as this is the most favored machine for swirl removal among the members. Then products like 3M Perfect It Machine Glaze and Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish will be mentioned a lot for swirl removal. Good luck and Welcome!

Read DavidB's article, Repairing Chips & Scratches and -- as others have said -- do a search on "scratch" and/or "swirl." BTW, the search engine requires three letters/characters, so you can't get a search on "PC"; instead, you have to enter "PC*" as your search term.

Hi, and welcome to Autopia. :)

Check out the PC thread in my signature. Inside there are links to some great articles both here and especially at Roadfly written for beginners. :up
