My car is a 2000 Olds Intrigue. 50k miles. Manafacture name for the paint is Dark Bronzemist Metallic. As far as waxing, would this fall under the category of "dark" as far as obtaining a wet look?

Few weeks ago I used Mothers Clay and their 3-Step Process. It came out nice, but I still feel there is room for improvement as far as a better shine.
I'm new to the level of detailing and the vast array of products used by people on this board. Right now, I'm just getting my feet wet as far as buying and using products. Been keeping it to things I can but in stores locally.

After reading such great things about it...I bought Meg's NXT wax yesterday. Should I do a Dawn wash before applying this? It's been almost a month since I did the Mothers 3 step. What's the thought on applying a different product. Would they enhance or mute each other out?
Month later and i still have some dried white wax in all my small scratches and dings. Is it the Mother's or did I apply it wrong/too much?

Thanks,
Mike

:welcome to DC.

Your car looks nice but it could probably benefit from some mild polishing, perhaps Poorboy's SSR1.
Many people will advise you against using Dawn. I believe it's OK to use it once to remove wax if you don't have anything else available. If you will polish, that will remove the wax for you, so you don't need to bother with Dawn.

I've used Mother's 3-step products once and it lasted about 5 weeks. It's not that bad for off-the-shelf product, but it will stain your trim and the residue in tight areas could be somewhat difficult to remove.

I would suggest washing, polishing, and NXT (since you already have it) or perhaps EX-P.

Mike,
Your car looks nice. NXT is a synthetic. As a general rule, you don't want to layer a synthetic on top of wax, if that is what is in the Mothers 3 step. As far as getting a better shine, a good polish on the exterior should give you that extra shine you are looking for. For a real wicked shine, try a machine or hand glaze before before sealing with a wax or your NXT. I don't know much about consumer car care products though so I don't know what to suggest for you. Maybe some other folks will have suggestions on what you can buy at the store to give you the results you want.
