New garage, No water hook up :(

Hey guys,

Long time reader, first time poster!

So here's the scoop...

I store my custom show truck (2002 Chevy s10) in a garage about 5 miles down the road from my parents house(100 miles away from my apartment :( ) which has no water hookup... Me and my father just started renting this garage a few months ago and my truck is in need of a wash/correction/waxing for the winter. Normally i used to wash the truck at my parents old house(where it used to be kept) pull it into the garage at the house and go to town with my PC... obviously i can't anymore. I would wash it at my parents new house but theres no way i will wash it, drive it, and THEN polish it...

I was thinking its time to start looking into ONR washing... possibly wash the truck at my parents(if its extra dirty), drive it over to the garage, ONR it to get whatever i picked up from those 5 miles off and THEN get to the polishing/correcting.

It saves me the issue with worrying about screwing up anything while polishing and i can always just fill up 2 5 gallon buckets at my parents and bring them to my garage.

what do you guys think of this plan or do you have any other ideas of how i can take care of this?

I've never used the ONR stuff before for fear of putting more swirls in my truck than a normal wash does(stupid dirt!) but if it is what i have to do to maintain my truck(fyi its black...) i'll learn something new!

ONR is great if its fairly clean, but if it has some mud, check out the Nomad pressure washer. It has a built in tank and runs off 12v.

teh truck will NEVER see mud, its a minitruck... full air ride suspension etc, it just gets dirty from the dust kicked up on the show fields and from whatever it picks up on the trailer to and from the shows. That pressure washer looks like a great addition also! do they have an AC version? I have electric at this garage obviously so Id rather run it on that than on DC

thanks george,

I picked up a bunch of WG stuff and plan on going to town on the truck, especially if i keep it black.. there has been talks of a repaint though cause i'm getting tired of black and issues with the paint job thats on there... plus i'm having martin sheetmetal my bed and install a fullskin and getting rid of the bed cover.... yay for winter rebuilds!

ONR is perfect for a show truck. Infact don't know if I would ever go anyother route. Buy a couple of five gallon buckets with lids and fill them up at home. I do this when I have to go mobile on occasion.

I was skeptical of ONR as well, but after using it on my car after a road trip from Washington to Cali, and picking up barely any marring from the process, I was sold. That marring was mostly due to my technique as well.

heres a picture of the truck since i like to whore it out:

I second the nod for the Nomad. Have one LOVE it! My winter arsenal for detailing in Ohio! You can't go wrong with it!
