New Exhaust.. Should I polish?

I'm getting a new exhaust for my car. It's a stillen exhaust and I don't want to take the chance of it getting rusted. This is the info the website gives me..

"The free flowing performance Mufflers themselves are aluminized or stainless steel for long life."

I have Mothers aluminum polish and Wheel Wax.. Should I use my porter cable to polish it out or just apply by hand or just leave it the way it is? I just basically want to make the finish a little stronger..

Thanks,

Adam

Hmmmm......I had a Pro-Lex UK stainless steel baffler on a previous Lexus, and used to use Meguiar's NXT Metal Polish - worked real good, but hairline scratches appeared not long after.

If your pipe is stainless steel, you'll have no problems with rusting - as above, mine was s/steel also and buffed up beautifully when I sold it on.

I'd try regular washing first from a clean bucket of soapy water with a nice clean wash mitt. If tar spots appear (little black dots), then try using something like Autosol Cream (I take it you have it in the States) with a nice soft cloth after washing.

Just be careful not to scratch it

Wheel Wax isn't going to last on an exhaust unfortunately. However, if you polish the mufflers/tips frequently, it is quite possible to keep that "brand new" look for a long time.

I've been doing my tips for two years and they look like new
